We all know it exists unfortunately. I've been pretty lucky throughout my life where I've never really had to experience it until recently. On more than one occasion in the last couple of months I've unfortunately experienced it first hand and its left me feeling awful. The hardest part was when it was directed at my children on our way to a pride prarade. Thankfully they didn't notice and they had an amazing day but my God some people are just shit.
Just seen something posted by a "FB friend" along the same lines that's set me off again.
Why can't people keep their nasty comments to themselves?!
Rant off. Happy Friday! |

Sadly people push against what they do not understand or what they feel is different. From a psychological point for view some fear it because they see it in themselves and reject it. Be happy with yourself, ignore the ignorant xxx |

"If I had a kid I wouldn't take them to pride if it meant they could be subjected to abuse "
I'm not going to tell my teenager she can't go to pride because some people are cunts, what kind of message does that send? |

I’m so sorry you had to experience that and worst of all have it directed at your kids..
We can do all we can for them but sometimes we just can’t protect them or ourselves from hateful and ignorant slurs.
I hope you had a great time anyway and just remember you are the bees knees for going and enjoying yourself regardless! |

Good for you.
I got the sane with racist in laws on FB.
I think the best thing to do is you can set Facebook up in a way that you can stay friends with people but choose not to see their posts this way at least you get a chance influence then without having to see their nonsense. If you really care and want to try & change people I think this is better than blocking or unfriending. |

Can we please say that when it comes to homophobia due to the site we are on it is the leading nonsensical phobia that irritates almost every fibre we know. But please remember that there’s a whole bombardment of xenophobia & also theophobia that needs more awareness too! I’ll avoid going on a tangent but, it’s worth acknowledging x |

We know other phobias exist; this thread is about homophobia though |

I'm aware people are cunts, this was about a particular group of cunts though. Nothing else needed to be acknowledged. |

Homophobic people will always be wankers of the first order and I have noticed lately it’s getting a lot worse and hiding behind “save our kids”. Social media, with X being a prime example, has empowered people to be open about their homophobia. 😡
It’s a shame as I know a few people who are secretly Bi and won’t come out because either their parents or friends will disown them. |

"I always feel as if homophobic people are very much in denial of something and probably have a lot of gay porn in their search history.
"
the sheer amount of outwardly online / social group homo/trans phobic/piss takers etc I have met over the years that have on the quiet been booking trans workers, seen them in gay saunas getting bummed / railed / sucking .. is so high id be fucking rich if had placed bets on it ..
Even in the porn industry where there is some very strong anti gay/trans/bi guys/women online ... my inbox is full of them wanting to arrange secret meets on the downlow that no one else must know about lol .. clowns
Dont like/agree with something, sure thats fine , knock your self out but keep it to yourself or just dont engage with it .. or walk on past if its in public |

I’m so sorry to read about this OP, especially where younger, impressionable people are involved. I suppose they have at some point to realise how horrible some bigots can be, but it’s a shame it has to be so early in life.
Society’s pond life never cease to surprise me. Take the recent riots, for example. The scale of damage, injury and fear inflicted on property and fellow human beans, simply because they aren’t exactly the same as the aggressor.
I often think “Surely society at large has now caught up with basic equalities such as same sex relationships”? Someone usually proves me wrong within days, if not less. And we are one of the most societally modern countries in the world. Think about the Middle East, North Korea, Afghanistan and so on. They feel centuries behind us and we can’t even get everyone in our own country to have a reasonable attitude towards such things as celebrating diversity. |

Do they not get why I’m trying to get them to understand why I think they’re fucking idiots!? |
