I enjoy them. They add variety to the fora, injecting fun, hilarity and joyful absurdity to a place that would otherwise be in the doldrums of banality.
If I tire of them then I simply bypass those threads just like anything else that fails to enthuse me. Labelling them as "cringe" is perhaps a step too far in my humble opinion.
I also like them because, selfishly, they have opened up opportunities for me to engage with new people (forum dwellers, berserkers and lurkers), to flirt, to woo and to date. It's the perfect conduit for me to release my inner wanton desires. |

Went to read that thread after your post. And I'm in agreement with you, it was thoughtful. TBH I thought it was another competition thread, which aren't my thing so I had skipped it. |

I'm not a lover of competition and comparison of people's body's. On the other thread it mentioned celebration of peoples body's and that's definitely more my kind of thing.
It's nice that these threads have meant that people are being nice to each other. But if you see a nice picture tell the person. I've yet to have anyone be negative to compliment. Be brave  |

I think that the ones we had were fun, engaging and lighthearted.
I also think that they can go very badly, sow discord and bring out the worst in people.
I think that if you start to break people down into body parts and competition based on those, then comparing and comparison is all that happens. This is ultimately a zero sum game that only hurts people and reduces everyone to bits.
We’re all more than that and celebrating diversity and individuals as a whole should be the aim |

It’s not a big deal. The threads looked fun and lighthearted and that’s what the lounge is about. People can choose to avoid threads they don’t like or to go crazy and create their own fun topics. On any day this place is the sum of those contributing, so choose your poison.  |

If it last 1 or 2 threads it's fine, when it gets into double figures it's a bit tiresome.

I really liked seeing women supporting women. Being playful, that lighthearted competitive side. The genuine compliments given. The confidence it took for people to take part in it.
When I find something a bit cringe I just step away from it. I don't need to squirt on their parade. |
