City Review - London
Jump to: Newest in thread
I thought we could all do with more info about any of the popular city destinations. Add anything that might help, like where to stay such as hotels, airbnb or b&bs, where to eat, what clubs, bars and other venues might you know off and generally what to do when there that other fab members will appreciate knowing. Let's share tips and information. Also posters can ask specific but relevant questions. |

London is my home town and I absolutely love it. There is always so much going on. Great museums and galleries. Amazing street art - nice to see Banksy returning to the capital. You can eat food from everywhereon the planet, even get fed for free at the food for life van if you're down in the pocket. Just had a whole season of free films by the Regents canal. So many local brewery's so lots of ale flowing (love Camden Hells) All the biggest names play here. Just had Swifty at Wembley and will have the NFL games this October so lots of wandering yanks around the streets of Tottenham. We have the North London Owl trail on atm. Found a couple on my walk home last night. London is life baby! |

Love London. In smaller doses admittedly. :D Will be back in London in September.
If anyone has any recommendations for coffee shops that isn’t Blank Street? I'd really appreciate it. Only if you've actually been to it though! |

If you go to London then do not wear a watch and do not use an expensive phone in public. The police are in special measures. The best way to get a police officer is to complain that you have been abused online and dozens of the buggers will turn up |

I’ve never seen the news reporting that the best way to get a police officer is to complain that you have been abused online?
May I please have a link ? |

The only link Tom can advise on is the link on a Rolex or a Gold chain. Wear both at your peril. Parade around and you will part company. Gangs control London and not the Chief of Police |

Tips for those not used to London underground.
Stand on the right.
Dont talk to people.
Dont look at people.
If you are watching or listening to ANYTHING on a phone/tablet/PC wear earphones or headphones. Nobody else wants to hear it.
Mind the Gap
See it, say it, oh sod off Khan..

Actually not true.
The best way to get the Police to attend your mugging is to say, they stole my watch but luckily i caught one of them and i am now holding him until you (the police) arrive by aiming my shotgun at his/her/their head. |

"Out of London - best for everything
Hard disagree. When you’re tired of London you’re tired of life."
I don't think it's about being tired of London, but more that people are somehow fine with paying absolute premium for absolute mediocrity |

Born there moved out went into it a lot in the 90's after and on occasion before 2012 before the Wrath of Khan.
Shame it isn't a low rise city anymore my opinion, was just the one skyscraper (canada one) until 2019? my dad worked there. There's plans for hundreds now in the centre apparently mostly residential? I don't know.
When mind the gap was announced on the tube back then we would say mind the prat people laughed good old days. |

"London alternative market, once a month for the more kink minded.
The torture garden, an amazing night out "
LAM's good at Revolution, been there twice and the party once. Shame the venue is no longer hosting it. |

The Shard was completed 2012. But there have been pretty high rise skyscrapers from the earlier 2000s as well. E.g. the Gherkin, 2003/4. |

I have to travel to the shithole frequently for client meetings…one of my absolute favourite pastimes is walking really really slowly on the left…really fucking winds people up…you buy a house in Cornwall I’ll fuck your morning meeting up 😂
I did however find one nice place in the whole of London, there’s a lovely little “”beach”” near the Hilton in Rotherhite. |

That's when I was last there didn't see that completed. Gherkin actually looks cool but now they've built around it it appears with taller and stupid looking things. It's starting to look like delta city from Robocop. |

I was born in Beckenham, worked in London City in early 90's. Didn't do anything for me. A couple of rememberance days visits were highlights.
Now the Queen's gone it's not the same.
I probably won't go there again, too dangerous.

Surprises me how little there is for us Fabbers, given the size of the population. Apart from Rios and a (tiny) handful of sex shops there isn’t much naughtiness in the day, although we’d like to try Rooms by the Hour. LAM is great, though only once a month.
Anyone have any other suggestions for daytime filth in Central/West End? X |

I really don't get everyone hating on london. True I am a native but I still find it thrilling. On the way to Pickles picnic this Saturday it was so exciting hitting Waterloo Bridge on the top deck front seat of the bus and seeing that panoramic view of the Thames. |
