Right without going into any detail my son was blinded in one eye a couple of weeks ago.
He is in the middle of his GCSE year and is sitting exams his dr has said because of his injury he wont be going back to school any time soon.
He is asking will he have to resit a year or will he be able to get home schooling, and i mean i don't even know if he will go back to school with the one eye...do any teachers or such know if i could sort something? |

His teacher should sort some work out for him to do at home, I doubt he'd have to re sit a year but depends on how good his form is. If I was you I'd go up the school and speak to them telling them your concerns
Hope your son is going to be ok x |

Yes - speak to the school
Arrange a meeting with his form teacher and either the head or head of year
Involve the local education authority if you feel that are not being given the answers to provide the best outcome.
I would also seek some counselling for your son with regard to his injury - I can (just about) remember my teens and a 'disfigurement' will potentially have a huge effect on a teen in terms of adjustment in terms of aesthetics as well as his loss of eyesight.
I wish you both well and hope you can come to the best outcome for the both of you, but particularly, your lad. |

Your school does have a duty of care to provide home schooling but he would need to sit his examinations in a specified controlled place, eg school...
Speak to your school and also local government school department for further advice and help.
I am sorry to hear what has happened to your son and I wish him a speedy recovery and I hope his injury won't affect the rest of his life. |

Our help came via the consultant dealing with our sons injuries and fantastic help it was. They set up meetings with the school and arranged for various specialists to attend the meetings. The school is a school and wont necessarily understand what they are dealing with.
Good luck with it all. |
