At one time I did. Then I realised that if push came to shove they'd throw me under a bus without a second thought.

Well considering that since covid my journey to work has been a walk from my bedroom to the spare room, I probably do

Yeah I do, no matter what job I do I'm like "I'm not going to get involved, gonna do my job and go home" but never happens.

I'm off today and all I can think about is the incompetent person doing my shift (had a 17 hour day yesterday so gave me the day off) and thinking "she's gonna fuck it all up" 😂.

I run my own business and I'm on call 24/7 so even when I'm on holiday, or a night out, I could end up working.

Yes, sometimes it's on my mind too.

I do yes because it’s a big part of my life. I sometimes travelling , going to events, speaking , Mentoring and other things I am passionate about what I do and the impact we make.

I guess that’s a half decent definition for everyone still wondering what a professional really is, When you don’t just go to work for money

Yes but I see it as part and parcel of being self employed. The worst thing is days like today where I don’t go to work due to forecast rain then spend all day getting up to look out window hoping the weather is bad enough to justify being off only if it’s really bad can I then stop stressing over it

"I'm self employed so it's hard not to think about work... no work = no pay lol "

Agree! I’m the same (self-employed) Hubby is high up with a lot or responsibilities!

Both hubby and I are off today (or at least supposed to be). However, I have replied to text messages this morning because hubby has had to pop into work for a couple of hours 🤦‍♀️

Yep absolutely this ^

It's also why I hate taking time off, as I know stuff won't get done as well as I do it.

And that stresses me out.

Otherwise, it's more like a fleeting thought "Oh, I have to do xyz tomorrow. OK"

My brain doesn't stay that focused on anything much anymore!

"What the fuck is up with that eh?"

FFS man I'm off today and guess what I'm now thinking about 😂

I try not but my boss has boundary issues which doesn't help.

Had the same dull dream twice at Xmas, trying to organise getting equipment on to a roof!

One of the reasons I'm now having a few more days off

Whoa sister that doesn't sound healthy! The modern world I suppose 🙁 hope you get to switch off a bit more over time.

How is Eden this time of the year anyway? Palookaville ain't half bad you know. Maybe we could swap and you could relax over there a lil bit? 🤷‍♂️😁

I'm exactly the same, the amount of times I walk round the building muttering to myself after a day off 😂, imagine what it was like after nearly two weeks off!

Occasionally. I don’t work Wednesdays but will on occasion take a (pre-arranged) call/meeting. And sometimes I’ll find myself mulling over meeting outcomes or next steps whilst out about.

But I don’t ‘actively’ work outside of work. I’d say work hours but mine are flexible and it’s not uncommon to find me working at midnight (but I probably finished 3 hours ‘early’ to go and do something fun which will be why!)

Probably far too much - run one of three divisions of a company with lots of sites on the go, tied to construction so lots of last minute crap going on and logistical headaches to sort. Goes with the territory and this time of year is 50-60hrs of work - then the thinking of shite on top of that.

Back when I was in hospitality I never switched off. It crippled me. Now I’m employed and can switch off and not think about anything work related. My bosses are big on work life balance and work ends when we clock out 😍

Two years ago before I changed career, yes.

I never switched off even when on holiday.

Now… never. Work stays in work and my mental wellbeing and overall health are so much better for it.

Outside of those who are self employed o really do not understand what benefit there is to letting work consume you.

There's someone I know who is abroad and has taken their work phone with them. Nothing that important is going on yet they have taken it away and are logging on.

No wonder so many people are burning out if they think they are so indispensable. As someone said above, they'd likely throw you under a bus as quick as anything so why give them so much of your time off?

I sometimes stop thinking about work while at work

Sometimes. If I've had to take unexpected time off and have made promises to people, I'll get them reassigned as it's not their fault and I won't let people down. Otherwise, I try to keep it as separate as possible.

Not anymore

I was self-employed for 9 years until this April, and my head was always full of work. Now I can switch off as soon as I leave for home.

As a business owner, yes, it's pretty much all consuming and hard to completely switch off.

I have got better over the last couple of years and even managed to leave my laptop and work phone at home when I went on holiday earlier in the year, first time in 8 years.
