I had a really nice memory tonight. I was about 22 and it was a hot summers night. We where at a friend's place which was an old gatehouse looked like the ruins of a castle. It had a large garden backed onto fields.
Someone was sitting on the fence playing the Spanish guitar and we all sat peacefully smoking and drinking until the sun came up.
I can feel as though I'm there again

"All my memories with my uncle. I still remember them all vividly. Especially one time we poured our hearts out to one another over bottles of wine. Celebrating his birthday. " I forget large chunks of my life until something triggers a memory. Some of these things are really important events I choose to forget

That sounds like an amazing memory, most of mine are fading as my memory grows worrying worse.
One short one that sticks in my mind was when my daughter was old enough to start walking along with me rather than being in her push chair the first time I took her out for a walk around the estate was a glorious sunny day and there were birds on the chimney of a house that were tweeting away happily and she was overwhelmed with excitement by this she just stood still and held her hands to her face and let out a little excited squeal. So adorable wish she stayed that age forever |

The first holiday we took without the children (they were adults by then). I'd just had surgery on my spine, Mr N had just had a hernia repair and it was our 25th wedding anniversary. We went to Majorca. One night we got d*unk on champagne and laughed and were really silly. The whole holiday was lovely but that night stands out |

Way back in 1994, our first kiss at the school gates after I’d spent months crushing over her and then plucked up the courage to tell her.
Amazing that she’d been doing the same since the first time she’d seen me crossing the road with friends after school the year before.
That feeling, the whole night afterwards and the anticipation of seeing her again the next day.
Sometimes when life gets on top of us now and again as it can do with any couple living hectic lives I like to quietly think back on those feelings and how very lucky I’ve been. |
