Okay people, need to put this out to the masses.
When you eat something cold and it gives you that ow sensation. Do you call it
A) an ice cream headache
B) brain freeze
C) something else, if so what? |

"Is it just me who puts their bowl of ice cream in the microwave for 10-20 seconds to prevent this from happening.
It’s still pleasantly cold, just takes the edge of it. I microwave my ice cream"

It is caused by a cold substance touching the roof of the mouth, and is believed to result from a nerve response causing rapid constriction and swelling of blood vessels, pain from the roof of the mouth to the head.

It can also occur during a sudden exposure of unprotected head to cold temperatures, such as by diving into cold water.
A cold-stimulus headache is distinct from dentin hypersensitivity, a type of dental pain that can occur under similar circumstances. |
