Yes star wars glasses have arrived! The future is here! Internet without having to bat a proverbial eyelid! Get this kids, glasses that allow you to view the internet, record videos of what your looking at etc etc blah blah blah.
Personally, I don’t think they will catch on. They look big and clumpy. The fad will last a year at most then, you will be reduced to looking as sad as someone who wears a Bluetooth ear piece with a mobile phone clipped to your M and S stay press trouser belt.
Avoid at all costs? Or will you be tempted to paying out loads of money for a pair of internet glasses that you thought would turn your world into a "living Tron" but the reality is you can get a weather report when you are lucky enough to get a 3G signal and still look a complete idiot? For me, I think I’ll be stick to a pair of old fashioned sunglasses an old fashioned mobile phone in my pocket and looking at the sky to see if its raining or not.

They will reduce the size until they can produce a contact lens version. I don't see the harm, people with smart phones can already do most of those things. |

Their main advantage will be augmented reality, the ability to see and to a degree interact with virtual objects/avatars in real life, though the 'screen' for Google Glass doesn't lend itself well to AR, a 'full screen' covering one eye will be better.
Put it this way, interact with game characters and environments, use virtual interfaces 'holograms', walk through virtual environments laid over what you currently see, walk through a forest on your way to work, etc. |
