Hi everyone,

My friend has been trying to loose weight for a while and has been doing well with strict diet and exercise.

She then told me yesterday she has been taking these diet pills that she's got from some guy who deals allsorts of crap like roids etc..

She's paid a fortune for the pills, and they look dodgy.

She said she googled them and knows what she's doing.. (that's if they are what they say they are)

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this,

I didn't get the chance to write down the name, but its not a herbal, or the legal kind sold in boots..

Just would like to know how dangerous these things are as i haven't a clue, don't want her to get ill from them, and i can't tell her what to do but if there's a danger i want to warn her.

Thanks in advance fab people

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

There's no quick fix for weight loss. There are too many people who desire results NOW. If it took you 2 years to pile on the weight you are hardly going to take it off in 2 months!

Reading the post, these weren't free trials....and may well be banned...Money isn't the important things sometimes...sometimes the side effects can be extremely dangerous

well this is kinda why im so dissapointed... shes done incredibly well naturally for a fair time, why mess about with pills now? but i think im going to sneak another look at the name of them, and try and find a way to get her to see the foolishness of them..

southend

They could possibly be an amphetamine, which is illegal. Especially if the guy she bought them from deals in roids.

At best they may give her heart palpations, at worse ...... well I wouldn't like to guess.

Could you not ask her to take the pills to her GP before taking them to get an explanation as to what is in them and the side effects? there could be anything in them ie rat poison etc.

Call me paranoid, but buying diet pills off some guy sounds dodgy to me. Who knows what is really in them.

she may have considered the consequences and felt they are worth the risk...

I agree tho, her choice

My hubby would be able to advise you on this.

There are some very dangerous pills out there you need to know the name of them.

Don't think many in here will be able to answer that question.

Thanks people, at least i feel like i'm right to be concerned for her health.

Think i'l discretely have a chat with the gp and relay the facts to her,and then like mentioned it's her choice.

Saying that i don't get involved if anyone's having a smoke.. maybe i should stop poking my nose in,

Thanks again everyone

The inquest in to the poor girl that died in last year's London marathon directly linked her death to the use of a now banned product which was a form of amphetamine. While far from ideal for a marathon it was primarily marketed as a weightloss product and has been linked to several other deaths.

I hate all these diet pills and diet plans, in the long term - DIETS DONT WORK !!!

If you want to lose weight then it comes down to eating the correct foods from then on, not for a few months or a certain amount of time. Its a total lifestyle change to keep the weight off, you need to eat correctly and exercise. The whole think isn't just a quick fix... You need to mentally change the way you think about food, the amount you eat and what you eat.

Eat consciously, know what to eat and how much you need.

Take a break in between mouthfulls, it takes time for the food to reach your stomach so when you pile it in quickly you are already filling yourself with more food than you may need shich is why some feel so full after eating. Piling more food in your body than you need is obviously not going to help lose weight...

Chew your food !!! Chewing each mouthful not only breaks down your food before digestion starts but it adds extra time between mouthfulls.

Snacks are ok, a bit of chocolate doesn't do the body too much harm, just watch how many you eat.

You don't have to spend £££ at the gym either. Find a 30 minute space each day for a walk, once you get used to walking then try 1 minute jogging and 1 minute walking and then build it up from there. Even parking further away when doing your shopping means you walk that little bit further !!

I might have gone off the subject here but buying pills can be dangerous if you don't know what's in them while others are herbal and don't really do much.

Most dangerous is DNP increases core body temperature but is very unpredictable that's like playing Russian roulette with your life.

Next are called T3 or thyroxine this cause your thyroid gland to work much harder increasing the metabolic rate. If the person takes to much or for to long, the maximum time is 4/5 weeks, they run the chance that the gland will never work the same again and would then have to be on them for the rest of there life's

Next could be clenbuterol this works similarly to DNP but is much safer but can cause stomach ulcers

Or T5 which used to be made using ethedrine some mild side effects but not to bad

Lastly ECA 30+ similar to T3 but has aspirin and caffeine in them.

Hope this helps

Sorry but you are wrong her death was related to a product called jack 3d its a stimulant not a diet product, and the original product has been banned after her death due to it having DMMA Dimethylamylamine although it has been reformulated without DMMA in it, and is marketed under a similar label. And is perfectly legal again.

Urgh. Tell her there that due to the fact that these pills are from an illigitimate source that there is a high chance they could have anything in them. She doesn't have her own analytical lab at home with a nice GC-MS in there to analyse these tablets so for all she knows there could be something in these pills which could seriously harm her. I would also point out that googling will not help her. She is investing trust to the person she obtained these from that these pills are what they say they are. There is also the chance that at some point in time these pills have once resided in somebodies ass. Ask her do you want to be taking ass pills? Surely she will think twice. (This is what I tell my friends who consider taking narcotics or any form of pills which come from an illigitimate source - studying forensics opens your eyes to these things.)

Sound like a diet to me and some people get on well with diet plans . I needed to start fast so did one of the fad diets lost 2 stone in 2 months and the swopped to a more healthy eatting plan I kept the 2 off and over the last 18 mth have lost an other 2 . Some people need to see that 1st bit coming off so that it keeps them motivated

Ok, I'll put it a different way..

Most people go on diets and lose the weight, it then comes down to a healthy lifestyle change that will help keep it off. May be I should have said diets are a temporary measure instead...
