It means whatever you want it to mean judging by previous threads on the subject. People make all sorts of judgements on people's personality based on this one word.
It's just another way of describing oneself. Like lorry driver, emergency worker, forces etc. |

In my experience it's used by people to imply they work a white collar job, have a decently comfortable standard of living, middle class tastes and lifestyle and decently presentable standards of fashion and grooming. Possibly a Mercedes or BMW on a PCP.
That's just what I have garnered off of people using that description. |

They work
It means different things to different people I think.
For some it's being registered with a body ie a doctor or solicitor. For others it's wearing a suit and being in an office.
It doesn't half wind some members up though. |

"It means different things to different people. Most probably they think they're in CI5
Bodie or Doyle?
Cowley 😀
I'm of that age now that I qualify for that rank

I try using references to the Professionals at work. The kids I work with end up Googling what I'm on about |

Aye it’s funny when young ones laugh when I don’t know the up to date stuff, but they don’t realise we have 30/40 years knowledge stored of before they were born 😀 |

"We really hate it when someone try's to influence us by what job they do, it does not make them kind, desirable or trustworthy in any way shape or form.

Sometimes it's even an indicator of the opposite! |

"I have a feeling the people who put it don't think half as much about what it might say as those that complain about it (no, I don't). "
These threads always make me want to add it to our profile. The trouble is we're retired professionals and it doesn't have quite the same ring to it |

I really think you should go for it - professional retirees sounds like it would get them going well enough! |

I always roll my eyes at the backlash and vitriol this one word attracts on here.
I'm happy to meet someone with that descriptor. Whilst in itself it doesn't guarantee we'll click, it implies a level of education and that is something I want in a FAB meet. Doesn't mean Dave the *insert choice of manual/blue collar profession* is lesser, it's just a fixture I may utilise.
Call me a snob/elitist all you like. I'll carry on doing FAB my way, as it works for me

"As I always say… it means they’re a pair of cunts.
We met a professional pair, your description is spot on!
They all are.
Wow thanks
Rude isn't it. "
It’s a bit of fishing really. I don’t care what people put in their profiles. I don’t even read them. |

"If you can sign for someone’s British passport - you’re “professional”. Check the gov website for the full list, then you can proudly add it to your profile 🤷🏻♀️
You’re welcome."
Proudly adds "Professional" to my profile. Well, I could, but can't be arsed |
