Hiya .. i am the type if person that generally takes info on face value initially ( but then will do due diligence if meeting someone).

I get people lie on here it is par for the course and luckily my bullshit detector is quite tuned. People saying they are in certain jobs because they think it will open doors etc . There really is no need !!

But the little untruths get me more from people i have known a while..offering info or statements like i am happy just seeing/ meeting you babe ( something i neither ask for or expect on here ) only for that to be a blatant untruth.

Or i havent seen anyone for x amount of time..which is untrue ! i wouldnt hold anything against anyone

Why do people do it ..am i missing something on a swingers site where the aim is to meet people .why do people feel hiding/ lying about it is beneficial .

I think some folks just get very easily carried away by the nonsense they spout in the hope of getting off

People say what they think you want to hear in order to get what they want. It's my big peeve on here also. I even say as much on my profile yet I still get fed the drivel. It's exhausting!

Often people lie because they know it's what the other person wants to hear

I think some people get lost in their own deceptive ways sometimes.

Or perhaps just not ready to fully be themselves yet ?

Just try to stay stoic in your own self and let them deceive themselves?

People lie to get what they want.

People also build a facade of themselves. Once it was a liberating thing, this idea that you could be anyone online. Less so now, and much less so in this specific context. But I do notice that some people build themselves up to an image that their real life selves can't sustain - whether that's what you want, or the story they want to tell themselves.

It's the whole... oh I'm not normally like this with other people, I can't stop thinking about you... blah blah blah.... that's what I can't fathom. I don't need to be made to feel "special" by a fab encounter. It just ends up annoying me as I know that none of what they say is true. *sigh* sorry op... that might not be your issue... I'll get my coat...

Some people couldn't lie straight in bed unfortunately, so they'll continue to lie here, as it gets them what they want.

As soon as anyone lies to me, no matter how small, I struggle to belive anything else they say though.

This.

I've also been told after the lie is uncovered, that is because they don't see why its anyone's business and who /when they see others is their business

I don't readily message anyone but I can't say I've ever had anyone lead me up the garden path. People have no doubt over egged the pudding as have I, but this isn't going on my CV. I try to keep my cards to my chest, no doubt others do - I'm not here to find out personal info on people. Trust is important yes, though I also realise this is as much about exploring fantasy so pinches of salt should be taken.

Various reasons. I think some people get carried away and spout rubbish in the heat of the moment. I think some are more calculating and fib because it serves their agenda. I think some even get off on the sense of power from being a manipulator.

Whatever the driving force behind it, the end result is the same.

Most people know who others have met because of the gossip

It might be different from a woman/cpl's perspective as guys aren't chased really. Guys can only say so much to gain interest from someone whereas women/couples are probably filtering what they're looking for with what is being said in convs all the time.
