For the love of all things, if you have any suspicions that something isn’t right then go get yourself checked out.

Had some terrible news today but hopefully all will be ok with the right treatment.

This isn’t a pity post but just a heads up not to let things linger.

I’m going to assume you don’t mean Chlamydia 😉

In all seriousness though I hope all goes well for you. I’m 7 years post mine and was lucky it was just minor surgery.

My first thought was Cunt

My second was Christmas

My third is Cancer

One of them is a swear word ( not here it seems )

The others are okay to say out loud and in fact saying it out loud is beneficial ..... so Christmas everyone..... it's on the way

I’ve been there

I had throat cancer and was treated with chemo and radio therapy

All in all 18 months before I was up and about properly

All clear now and living a normal life

Thank you NHS

Why are people always told to beat cancer ? Are you told to beat pneumonia, measles or any other disease? Then what if you don't beat cancer and you die? Are you at fault because you didn't fight hard enough to beat it ?

I was married 25 years when my husband died of cancer age 50. Sadly he couldn't beat it, however hard he tried. Does that make him a failure ? A loser because he didn't fight hard enough ? As hard as he tried he couldn't beat it.

Thanks for sharing Sally.

People mean well but it's an illness not an Olympic event.

I feel the same when people are 'heroised' during or after suffering. They had no choice.

I do really get where you are coming from

Similarly when people with cancer are told to 'stay strong '. The pressure that puts on someone.

Your husband wasn't a loser

I was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer. A surgeon removed my cervix, ovaries, Fallopian tubes and uterus. A biopsy last month shows I am now cancer free. I didn't beat cancer. The NHS did it all for me.

I thought I may have breast cancer last year. So did the G.P. and the hospital suspected. I won't describe the symptoms or the pain and concern.

I went through all the rig marole and testing and mammogramming and lubing and other examinations and was pronounced clear.

Turned out to be an inner infection. Don't ask me how. No idea....... Anti biotics and some rest and presto.

I've never had a mammogram for good reasons i'll keep to myself - but I don't go to routine checks as I don't believe in 'learned helplessness' and sl@vish obedience to NHS good intention.

I lost my wife to cancer. 10 years after the all clear it came back, type 2 stage 4.

I do normal need and never have wanted sympathy what I want to say is live life to the full, tell your loved ones you love them and for fucks sake we all know our bodies better than anyone else so if you think something is wrong then seek advice
