The price drops have been a long while coming... Weekly travel was at £18

No reductions here either. I still have to shell out £4.50 return a day for my daughter to get to college in the next town, 4 miles away.

And before people jump up and say she could cycle that distance ... yes she could. But it's a hellishly busy A-road and I don't want her flattened by some artic lorry.

Costs of motoring are going up for everyone. Why should public transport be any different?

"Costs of motoring are going up for everyone. Why should public transport be any different?"

To tempt people out of using their cars?....

"Costs of motoring are going up for everyone. Why should public transport be any different?"

Travelling by public transport SHOULD be cost effective, thereby encouraging people to leave the car at home, reducing pollution and congestion on the roads. However, going by the price I quoted above for my local bus company (£4.50 return to the next town and back), if myself and 3 companions went there by bus, it'd cost £18.

In my 2 litre car, it'd cost a fraction of that - probably closer to the cost of one bus ticket.

So where's our incentive to leave the car at home and use public transport instead?

Nahh - I'll carry on using my Peugeot thanks all the same

its cheaper for us to get to London by driving the 16 miles to Sidcup everyday and park in the station car park than it is to get a bus to gravesend station then a train from there.

which is kind of ridiculous.
