I didn’t do this thread intending to make people feel sad😂 so I do apologise if I have. But my thinking that people are out of my league does come from an internalised pov that you have to be a certain level of attraction and/ or social status to be desirable to some. I think generally society has reflected that but I think it’s changing more these days. The idea that I do or don’t stand a chance with someone is more about me than about them and its not projecting an attitude onto them, it’s not projecting an idea about yourself (positive it negative). Consciously, I was of course very aware that there's absolutely no difference between us except skintone, but I'd never confronted those terms that just lingered unchecked from my upbringing. Accepting that as internalised shit and just accepting it did not seem an appropriate way to continue. I spent most of my life thinking I was ugly. It's not even that long since I spent years thinking a beautiful creature was just being friendly and talked like that to everyone because he was absolutely too fucking pretty to be interested in a weird hot mess like me. When he finally asked me on a date I took weeks to even consider it wasn't a joke or prank. That idea took a lot of confronting to get past. But I managed it 💜 | |||
