Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I know there have been loads of tablet threads. I still don't know which one I am treating myself to this month but I'm stuck on size for function.
So, do I need 7", 8.5" or the VWE 10" tablet to be able to read web-sites and documents well? |

Go to the shop and have a feel of a few,
We have a 7" and a 10" I like the 7" as it's easier to handle |

"I'd have thought bigger for being able to read documents etc well"
People read books on these things don't they? I'm thinking about the carrying around element too. The only real reason to get one. The phone is too small for when I am working away and the laptop is too big. |

Really then depends on the format of your work, I couldn't work on anything but a 17". |

I generally don't create when I am on the road but I do have to read attachments to my e-mails. My laptop is 12" and I have used that for everything for 5 years. It's just too cumbersome for trains and stuff. |

Ok plenty of cheaper options available than the iPad just I can't recommend what is best as no experience. |

"then again there is the microsoft surface i think thats about 10" it has a stand so it can form a complete erection you can hold it in your hand or erect you can use it on a desk"
The Surface is also pricey but I understand, from a previous thread, that it may have keyboard problems.
I am being seduced by the HP Envy adverts but I know I can't justify spending that much for something that size. |

"iPad makes your wrist hurt in bed
What are you doing with it?
Just balancing it
In your wrists, elbows and ankles... how little are you?"
3'7" on tippy toes. I lied on my profile to attract the tall birds |

Even a first generation iPad will be better than nearly everything else and they're not too expensive on eBay now.
Otherwise a Blackberry Playbook is good value, good battery life and really nice quality.
As for size I can't decide myself - am thinking of downsizing to an iPad mini. |

We have a few varying android tablets in this house. My youngest has a 10inch one running latest system and is fast. It cost 149 quid just before Christmas and is great. But I found it too big. So I have a 7inch one.
just went for fast processor and good memory. I put a 32g card in it and it's fantastic.
We have an iPad too but it's not any noticeably better than the much cheaper androids.

Thanks, that's a useful answer for me. 10" felt too big for you but 7" feels comfortable. |

"id go 7" minimum. mines 8" and find it just about right. too small and ur constantly scrolling left to right as well as top to bottom
such a ball ache"
Do they have balls?
I know I don't want to go smaller than 7", otherwise I might as well just stick with my phone or get a slightly bigger phone. I looks like I should concentrate on the 7" and 8" options. |
