I'm not sure if this is political or not, if it gets moved to that section,so be it.
Do you live in a community, or are you happy to immerse yourself in the many cultures of the UK? There seem to be more and more almost "closed" communities in the UK than I'm sure there used to be. There are Jewish communities, muslim, Albanian, Polish etc. I myself live in a community mostly made up of people of my ethnicity. We have never had any riots, stabbings, dr*g problems etc. We all speak a similar language/dialect, even the GPs at the surgery are all of the same ethnicity, and most of the local shops are owned by community members. They tend to stock products that are familiar to us, and many from our own country. We feel safer like this, but is this the way the UK is heading? Fractured and separate with decreasing mingling of cultures? |

I don't particularly engage with my direct local community.
I try to maintain links with the communities in the area that share my interests.
But mostly I keep to myself and deal with whatever the least inconvenient option is for things like shops and social areas. |

I live in Northern Ireland where community division has existed for generations so it's nothing new.
The sad but hilarious part is that some members of both main religious communities, despite their animosity are united in not welcoming anyone else into the country.
I don't wish to be a member of any community that excludes anyone based simply on religious beliefs, nationality or the colour of their skin and strangely enough within my circle of family and friends I don't know anyone who feels otherwise so I guess that's where I've found my community. |

We don't have much involvement with our immediate local community. We only moved here a year ago and don't really know anyone. We spend most of our working and leisure time in a very diverse and multicultural city, where we feel happy. We can't afford a 3 bed bungalow in said city though, so we live 40min drive away from it. |
