So we are getting a task force to deal with rioters..good idea or will the numbskulls see this as a challenge?

They don’t come about just because they feel like it. But if far right knobbers want to see it as a challenge, let them.

They’ll lose against the furry exocets in no time & the guys with the batons and shields.

The problem I foresee with this is a gradual tightening of what's legally considered a "riot".

I’m all for it if it stops scenes like last night in Sunderland happening again. There’s a “protest” planned in Newcastle next week and I’m hoping it remains peaceful considering there’ll be loads of kids in town for the match.

It's 12 actually. But not just the number, it's about the intent/action too. You and 11 of your friends having a drink is not a riot.

I think so too but Newcastle is a lot more left leaning than their neighbours down the road so I’m hoping it isn’t.

Should obviously say, I'm not a lawyer so very happy to be corrected. But I think the taskforce is a good idea. This is (often) coordinated violence and needs to be policed in the same way. Like the powers used to reduce football hooliganism.

In what way? They'll do what they do. This is about a policing response, and not sure it changes the motives of the rioters much. But if they are able to use preventative powers to stop some people travelling, all the better.

People are very quick to criticise the government/police for not responding, so good on them for acting quickly to coordinate action. Let's hope it works.

I have young children. Muslim’s (with the information available at this time) aren’t responsible for this so I’m struggling to see the correlation.

The good thing is that the residents of Newcastle are nowhere near as tolerant of the EDL and their shenanigans as it seems in Sunderland

I remember the last time the EDL “tried” to march in Newcastle city centre….. it didn’t go very well for them

"I’m all for it if it stops scenes like last night in Sunderland happening again. There’s a “protest” planned in Newcastle next week and I’m hoping it remains peaceful considering there’ll be loads of kids in town for the match.

The good thing is that the residents of Newcastle are nowhere near as tolerant of the EDL and their shenanigans as it seems in Sunderland

I remember the last time the EDL “tried” to march in Newcastle city centre….. it didn’t go very well for them "

Same as Liverpool..

Comments like this hearten me. We have to remember our country is better than the EDL.

I think so too but Newcastle is a lot more left leaning than their neighbours down the road so I’m hoping it isn’t.

That’s the worry I have. I’m mixed race and will be in the city centre that day. While people are all point scoring online there’s people like me and my family that could potentially be attacked for the colour of our skin.

The EDL don't exist as they did, they split and other groups have formed since then..

Same bigotry and racist haters mind..

They didn't get out of the station the last time they tried to march in Liverpool, it wasn't a disaster at all..

A new layer of admin over what already exists seems to be the answer to everything by this government.

A boarder supremo when we have Boarder Force.

A riot force when we have a mutual support arrangement between police forces.

The answer seems to be spend more money to get in the way of what is working perfectly well.

"The problem I foresee with this is a gradual tightening of what's legally considered a "riot".

A gathering of 3 or more is classed as a riot

It's 12 actually. But not just the number, it's about the intent/action too. You and 11 of your friends having a drink is not a riot."

Do they read the Riot Act still? If not, they definitely should

Longer than a decade, the last forty or so years whereby genuinely felt grievances that some have are being ignored yes..

Where the perception is that the disenfranchisement is partly due to governments being out of touch with areas of white working class, poor academic results in that group with the economic consequences of the employment possibilities etc etc..

These are not issues that began four weeks ago have they..

To have expected him to have laid out a plan etc with all that entails when the message has to be that there's no place for thuggery, looting, arson and attacking the police as any sort of reason for whatever is naive..

"I’m all for it if it stops scenes like last night in Sunderland happening again. There’s a “protest” planned in Newcastle next week and I’m hoping it remains peaceful considering there’ll be loads of kids in town for the match.

Unfortunately I think there will be trouble

I think so too but Newcastle is a lot more left leaning than their neighbours down the road so I’m hoping it isn’t.

These people probably don't come from the area

That’s the worry I have. I’m mixed race and will be in the city centre that day. While people are all point scoring online there’s people like me and my family that could potentially be attacked for the colour of our skin.

You be fine think it’s a certain sector that the rioters are drawing attention too

Muslims. I could easily look Muslim to these people. These are the same people that call anyone with brown skin a p*ki.

Love the "you'll be ok, you're the right kind of brown" response.

Without knowing that half of my family are Muslim too.

I can handle myself so I’m not too worried but the genuine concerns in the family group chat have really made me think about this. It’s a scary time to be brown in this country.

It is. Like you, I don't give it too much thought but I can see why people are afraid.

But you know, Tommy Robinson says enough is enough, so it's all a legitimate concern.

Kier as caused this massive divide

In four weeks?

And after he said there's no place for thuggery and attacking police?

Where you asleep from 2010-2024..m

His speech said nothing what he is going to do with solving the issue that have been effecting this country for a decade partically radicalizing and illegal immigration that as caused major issues presume you also been a sleep for years

...and those far right morons aren't radicalised? Oh, and what exactly is the issue that's caused said morons to target Muslims and shops (burning out a Citizens Advice Bureau, WTAF?) and torching cars, despite the common knowledge of the murderer not being one? Have a word with yourself...

Looks like a few left wing protesters have stabbed two people in stoke do these guys love knifes after what being going on over the last week with them children disgusting "

You didn't answer my questions...still, nice deflection...

They keep using the term far right, but aside from the thugs, most are ordinary people who are fed up of the leftist agenda being foisted upon them. rediculous levels of immigration on to the country. Eh? They've only been in charge 10 minutes - hardly enough time to establish and oppress with their mildly off centre agenda.

It's an uprising of people who are pissed off and mildly racist.

None of that makes sense, the Tories have been in power for 14 years..

At present the country is over 83% white..

Honicker was in power for 18 years, Starmer has been PM for four weeks so it's not comparable plus if you think the latter has the same political views as the former you really need to read factual information..

I hope you realise how much “immigrants” have done for this country. They helped rebuild it after the war, helped boost the economy etc. The UK is a country that has been built from immigration and that is now a fact. I think saying that you’re becoming a minority in your own country is a bit far fetched. What does it even mean to be truly “British?”

The owners are pretty hands-off and don't really know about what goes on.

I've spoken to them plenty and they seem nice enough. "

All you lot talking about the so called “far right” whilst we’re thinking about the poor families that have been affected by what’s happened in Southport & Gillingham. But let’s just blame it on mental heath rather than the perpetrator’s radical views.

"They keep using the term far right, but aside from the thugs, most are ordinary people who are fed up of the leftist agenda being foisted upon them. rediculous levels of immigration on to the country. It's unsustainable. And giving them housing above British people. The political class have ignored genuine concerns about immigration and shout down any opposition as racist It is a tragedy what they have done to this country, allowing in so many is disapating the indigenous population, to the extent we will become a minority in our own land. It's a profound betrayal, of the British people. These politicians should hang there heads in shame. Enoch Powell predicted this and as been proven correct,. How many deaths can you attribute to the so called far right in this country? Compared to how many deaths at the hands of islamist fanatics? No contest! Yet the media use the imiginary of the boogie man far right to deflect from the horrors attributeable to the influx of alien cultures on these shores. I'm always baffled that people who would call themselves the most "patriotic" Brits seem to the worst grasp of the English language.

Can I check which immigrants are ok - is it just Muslims you object to? Or all brown people? Or all immigrants full stop? How many are you allowing in? How many does the economy need to keep it going? How many do we need to prop up our NHS?

We've just had 14 years of Tory government so not sure we've had much of a leftist agenda "foisted on us" during that time. That Labour won an election a month ago is the will of the people - you lost, get over it

How? You're sounding quite silly.

Really he is not dealing with the main root of the problem that been. Going on for years in this country also need a police force for knife crime time

He's been in power for 4 weeks, so not sure he can take blame for any "root causes" that have been "going on for years". But I'll ask again, what is the root cause of thugs attacking police stations? Do you think that's acceptable?"

Tom is surprised they cam find one to attack. Most are closed

Of course there's a far right. There's a far left too. It's just in the internet era, it's less centrally organised, unlike in previous eras. No need for el Capitán coordinating everything or cells, like the IRA used to have. Everything can be organised anonymously via Telegram and suchlike.

We didn't see white people in Leeds coming out of the woodwork to counter protest, chase and attack those people last week.

The government, police and the left wing are absolutely losing their minds because the indigenous people are the ones protesting for once

That's not protesting. Anyone with a brain knows that isn't how you protest or manifest change. It was idiots being idiots, not hero's protecting our women and children.
