"whinger....what a pathetic thread..." I think it's one of those 'You had to have been there' to appreciate the pure hatred. Obviously you weren't, so have no understanding of the deprivations caused by this woman's policies on entire communities. I'm talking of people literally being starved/deprived of heating etc. Bet you don't read about that in the Daily Mail (Der Sturmer) while you're munching on your Cornish pasty of a morning do you?

"Jesus, if some of you get so het up about this, i bet you were fucking heartbroken when Himmler died " Baroness Thatcher made mistakes and made some great decisions and unlike a lot of Prime Ministers since her, she had balls and stuck to her principles. Whether you agree or disagree with them depends on your beliefs and also the impact it had on you and your families Heinrich Himmler oversaw the death camps which saw the killing of some 6 MILLION jews. Get a life and a grip on yourself

He told them/us Saddam had 'WMD's' I think. In that case if Im right and you're right, they changed the rules in time. I havent voted for 15 years approx so that shows how much notice I take in it all.

They'll never stop illegal immigration because it is used as a cheap way to run the economy. It's just following on from the USA, who' s entire economy is propped up by illegal immigrants/cheap labour and would collapse were it to be withdrawn. It's a real win win area for government as it makes the working class poorer, keeps pay down whilst at the same time providing easy targets to blame through it's sensationalist sponsored rags

"For those who may not know (and apologies to those who do) but Thatcherism came from Reaganomics, which, in turn, came from Milton Friedman's Chicago School of Economics. Read up on it if you want to see what it is. Basically, in a nutshell, it is total free market economics. Now, that sounds good, doesn't it? But what that means is raising profits but cutting pay. Cutting tax for the wealthy but also public services (preferrably to the bone - or as far as you can without mass starvation, etc). Which, in effect, means that the wealthy is sucked (at surprising speed) upwards. Now, those proponents on such economics claimed that this would result in what Thatcher referred to as the 'trickle down' effect. This, in fact, did not happen. And, what is more, has NEVER happened in any society which has been FORCED to endure such economic models. Read Joseph Stiglitz : Globalisation and Its Discontents. It is an appalling model of economics which utterly crushes the poorer classes to benefit the wealthy. It is what the Tories have been doing (and I include Blair to a degree! He was NO Socialist!) since 1979. Pinochet did this too - after overthrowing a democratically elected Socialist leader (Allende). And Thatcher utterly supported him. This is why so many people despised the woman. To argue that you had to admire her because she stuck to her guns - well, so have other dictators! Are we to admire them?"

Yep you're quite right there, it's been a very sad life living in former mining communities since she decimated them! Coming from a steel town that the miners refused to help ( it's your fight not ours where the words the miners leaders used ) in the days when miners could hold the country to ransom she did the right thing. The majority of my family lost they're jobs in the steel works but unlike the miners they got on with life instead of winging 30 odd years later "

"wishing someone dead is NEVER a good thing" Uh-Huh, I'm sure some of the Jews in Germany in the 1930's+40's would have disagreed with you.

"whinger....what a pathetic thread... I think it's one of those 'You had to have been there' to appreciate the pure hatred. " my father lost his job during this woman's regimen he was in his fiftys with a young family lost his self respect and his health.often we were hungry he died enough said

Talk about ridiculous sentiment. I am happy that a truly despicable human being is dead, yet I've never harmed anyone. On the other hand, she's got the blood of thousands on her hands yet I'm the bad one? Just shows how fucked up the human race really is What blood? (Falklands?) Why wasnt she ever tried for these crimes? What about all the innocent poor who perished through her policies? Not everything is so black and white" Seriously saying thousands in this country perished because of her policies? We must have thought millions would go if we got rid of her then we gave her three terms In office

"I think it's in bad taste to gloat over the death of another human being. I accept fully that her policies brought much misery to many people but that was 30 odd years ago. Move on ffs! On the 'decimation' of the former mining towns and villages, I have a little experience of the aftermath spoken about by the OP. We moved to South Yorks from South coast Hampshire in 2000 and lived in a former mining village until 2005. The house we bought was a bargain - the village was thriving - everyone drove around in newish cars because the housing was so cheap. My OH had a similar job to the one he had down south but for more pay - there were outlet shops a plenty - the motorway network was fantastic and Doncaster town centre on a Saturday night most definitely did NOT come across as a town still suffering from Maggie Thatcher's policies in the 80s. Things move on - places move on - circumstances move on ... some people, sadly, don't." The thing is about the idea of 'moving on' is that even now we are affected by Thatcherism. The truth is that we are still suffering the impact of the massive increases in income inequality under Thatcher, which Blair and Brown failed to reverse. In the 1980s the gulf between the top and bottom 20% widened by a full 60% – much the most dramatic widening of income differences on record. Since then there have been only minor fluctuations under Major, Blair and Brown. The result is that the gap between the top and bottom 20% in Britain is twice as big as among our more equal European partners. And now, under Cameron, it is widening further. I remember the riots - I was living not far from Moss Side at the time. I would not be at all surprised to see it happen again. I would be very dismayed - but not surprised.

Im not sure he ignored my question about 'what blood' so kind of guessing at what he ment? He had mentioned thr Falklands war earlier (I think) so I put 2+2 together that, thats what he ment by 'blood on her hands'

"Margaret Thatcher's political career has been one of the most remarkable of modern times she served as British Prime Minister for more than eleven years (1979-90), a record unmatched in the twentieth century. During her term of office she reshaped almost every aspect of British politics, reviving the economy, reforming outdated institutions, and reinvigorating the nation's foreign policy. She challenged and did much to overturn the psychology of decline, which had become rooted in Britain since the Second World War, pursuing national recovery with striking energy and determination. In the process, Margaret Thatcher became one of the founders, with Ronald Reagan, of a school of conservative conviction politics, which has had a powerful and enduring impact on politics in Britain and the United States and earned her a higher international profile than any British politician since Winston Churchill. By successfully shifting British economic and foreign policy to the right, her governments helped to encourage wider international trends which broadened and deepened during the 1980s and 1990s, as the end of the Cold War, the spread of democracy, and the growth of free markets strengthened political and economic freedom in every continent. Enough said. " Eh? Where in that lot is there anything to be proud of? Being politically in bed with the hideous Reagan regime which went around the globe overthrowing democratically elected governments, bombing and killing thousands and thousands of civilians in the process, and replacing them with puppet US governments so that they could bleed said country's natural resources dry? Yes, something to be really proud of
