Amelie Lens is a hard Techno DJ recently she has caused controversy when she decided to tour pregnant.

In Ekectronica world There is faux Pais to kids being at raves and festivals. Especially with the rise of Teeny raves or rave tots. The arguments is that it's inappropriate for the child to be there especially around loud music (with there undeveloped hearing) experinental substancesces and with the techo world historically promoting sexual liberation... Yeah. (Although the latter is more of the Berlin clubs and ex soviet nation raves. In the ex sovirtc starts like Georgia they are seen ss protests against Russia and Autocracy).

Amile Lens toured while pregnant explaining she wanted to have both her life as a touring artist and to start a family. Explaining that the decision to do both feels empowering, as she's now feels more ambitious and creative.

What's your opinions?

Is it a harmfull both morally and physically?

Or aa DJ Charlotte D Witte stated "amazing and truly inspirational"?

I have no idea who she is, but large numbers of women work whilst pregnant. I'm sure she took adequate precautions not to cause any harm to her baby, as I did when I worked through all of my pregnancies

Harmful morally to continue touring while pregnant, hmm let me think...no.

As long as she takes all necessary precautions I don't understand why its even discussed.

As for empowering what does she think most women have been doing for years?

I have no idea why a woman working in different places during her pregnancy is a topic of conversation in 2021. I flew for work related purposes at 16wks pregnant. Should that be dissected?

It's just a woman doing her work.

Not sure a woman carrying on doing her job during pregnancy is that controversial. She can decide what's right for her and her unborn baby, and I'm sure has taken medical advice - very few women do anything to intentionally cause harm to their baby!

I'm sure there are some jobs it is too unsafe to do while pregnant, but being a DJ doesn't strike me as one of those.

Sara Landy called her tour a feminist moment and her a groundbreaking trailblazer.

To give you context Techno is probably the only genre of EDM where there is toparity with men 45%. With the car vast majority of them in the harder more industrial genres. Yet only 13% of female producers have chart sucess.

I won't pretend that I understand what Techno is or the industrial genres thereof. Is it particularly difficult or dangerous?

I'm not diminishing her achievements just trying to understand why she's a ground-breaking trailblazer and this is a feminist moment.

I know your not. Appologies if it came across like that.

And if truth I wonder the same too. Why did Sara which many with learning difficulties find inspirational, condider her sn inspiration. What is it that Sara and Charlotte find about miss Lens to be inspirational. Especially as Charlotte's remix of Age of Love became an anthem for a anti autocratic political revolution.

There is a lot about Techno that I do not think it's adequately answered. (Regardless of the toparity) Like what you said why is Lens considered a feminist icon when there are countless people in history that have had a greater impact?

A nice rock

Is there actual potential harm to the child's hearing development or is that just waffle?

Because that's clearly the only actual issue here.

I'm guessing waffle

There are countless ordinary pregnant women from all walks of life who get up and go to work every bloomin day. I'm really struggling to understand it but maybe I do don't know enough about it

I have no idea why this is news or a big deal. Apparently women i this genre is quite rare, but not sure how her being pregnant suddenly makes her inspirational.

I worked until a week before my due date nearly 30 years ago and returned to work full time 6 months later.

Whatever you do for a living, working whilst pregnant is usually perfectly normal and acceptable.

In this enlightened age of science and health & safety, there will already be measures in place to protect both the audiance and the performing artists from extreme volume levels.

For the volume level to be loud enough to cause any sort of ear dammage to the growing Foetus, it would need to be peaking in excess of 150db. In the UK there is sugested a 140db peak limit and a 115db average limit.

In addition to this, the DJ's booth will actually be considerably quieter than the audience area, due to the directionallit of the speakers (and cardioid placement of Bass Speakers).

So ultimately, it will be totally safe.

i think we should try this and see how the world fares if pregnant women stay at home for the duration.

Good luck to Amelie and all the other 'feminist icons'

One online article state being exposed to loud noise regularly can harm the babies hearing. It also went on to add that there is a study, that showed living near an airport, has resulted in babies being born 17% smaller.

I didn't look at any other articles.

I am sure the DJ can control the sound level in the DJ booth?

I think people need to mind their own business and assume that Amelie will take necessary precautions. Not like she doesn't know what she's doing really...

Does the area around Heathrow have a spate of low birth weight babies?
