"Do you say what you think, even if means upsetting people, or do you hold back and say nothing in case you upset someone?. "
Nope, recently i have found telling them the truth has become very easily not to mention fun.

I pretty much always speak my mind and with honesty.
If often upsets people with what I write but I have always posted the same way and will continue. How other people feel about what I post is their issue not mine. Its difficult but wont change the way I post. X |

I am always honest, if I think it I say it?
Often find my mouth engaging before my brain has a chance to react. Lol.
Only do straight to the point and life would be so much easier if everyone was I think?! |

I try to 'suffer fools' sometimes but even when I do people seem to read what I'm really thinking.
So, no! But it's worth having in mind we can all be found to be a fool at some time or another. |

Ho! Will all of you who are fools piss off now?
Have learned to bite my lip, but can only manage that for a while. When I can taste blood - watch out - I let rip.
Usually helps not at all, but I feel better for about 30 seconds. |

My job means I must be honest and straight with people regardless of their feelings. I'm pretty much the same in my personal life, yet I'm more tolerant on here...

someone people leave enough rope out there to hang themselves so to speak... so there is no need for me to provide any... all I have to do is stand well back from the impending "car crash"....
See there are 2 things in life I have learnt..
1) never let people know just how smart you may actually be
2)........... |

Don't suffer fools. If I lose my trust in someone, it will be very difficult for that person to gain it back.
People trust me to tell the truth, and I can be very honest and brutal even.
However, peeps know I am incapable of being 2-faced.

I don't suffer fools at all however you can still exhibit tact while not suffering fools in my book and its no excuse for being obnoxious or rude. |

I agree with this and I admire people who do it well.
Although it also amuses me when people claim they prefer to be told straight, but can't handle it when you do. |

I find that people are surprised by how much I actually censor what comes out of my mouth. Those that spend any amount of time with me seem to catch on pretty quick to the fact that if they say or do something stupid I will usually comment on it, to the point where I don't have to say anything anymore, they just look at me waiting.....
But saying that, it does very much depend on the situation, and whether I actually NEED to make that person LOOK more stupid then they actually are, we have all done/said something that makes our brain scream NOOOOO! while our mouth keeps happily yapping nonsense
But most days idiot baiting is just a readily available form of entertainment

I don't fully understand the phrase. I never have but I have given it FULL and due consideration over the years.
My thoughts are these :
1. People who say they don't suffer fools gladly are generally arrogant and use the phrase for any situation and especially as an excuse for their own lack of tact and low self esteem and when someone doesn't agree with them.
2. They are fools.
3. Fools can learn but hopefully not from the poor examples of people in category 1.
4. What is a fool ? It is generally someone who has been tricked or made to look foolish. Probably by people the likes on those in category 1.
5. If someone feels foolish or has been made a fool of they are experiencing behaviour changing emotion which is more than can be said for the pious pig headed people who belong in category 1.
6. If someone has made a fool of themselves it's likely they need help and support to get over it and not dwell and they probably won't get it from the likes of those that belong in category 1.
7. There but for the Grace of ( im atheist ) go those in category 1.
In the words of Paloma Faith. Wipe it off your sleeve.

Category 1 people might just be bravado (or full of shit). I agree.
Anyone that introduces themselves in a certain way 'Hi, I'm funny', 'I'm not stupid'.. is usually a little deluded. |

This sounds fine in the abstract, but when you actually witness somebody in the act of not suffering fools gladly, it looks rotten. In our local town there this man who go around the shops never nasty he make jokes and just say hello to staff and go never hang around long. He has been doing this around the town for years and spend his day doing it most make him welcome ... I was in Denhams he come in said hello to staff saying he had been out with his mum and dad a had a bad hang over thay all smiled at him chatted . When he left thay said god I cant stand him he give me the creeps now I felt so sad ... as I was thinking them staff could take 5 mins of there day just to be nice and was to his face . |

The phrase is often used as an ambiguous compliment. It suggests that a person is so smart he has trouble tolerating people who are far below his own high standards. I think if a person feels thay are god go tell people what you think ........ But can makes some look like an idiot themselves so I will suffer fools as know at times we can all be one. |

The phrase originally came from William Tyndale’s 1534 translation of the Bible. In it, Paul was ripping into the decadent citizens of Corinth for turning away from his own authoritative teaching and falling for a bunch of second-rate false apostles. “For ye suffers fool gladly,” Paul says with withering sarcasm, “seeing ye yourselves are wise. |
