"Had it twice.
Last time I was on 2 different antibiotics for 2 weeks. Couldn't walk up the stairs.
Woke up one morning out of bed to the toilet and fainted as well.
Get well soon.
Mr"
Don’t want go go there again !
I’m grateful my GP who picked it up or I wouldn’t be typing this . Even with antibiotics I was very poorly |

Oh I was giving IV antibiotics for 3 nights, they had to put me on oxygen all night. I really don’t wanna go back.
Is there anything I can do to speed up the recovery apart from slicking antibiotics? |

Yes I had it over Christmas. I tend to under react to things so asked a pharmacist's advice who said to gargle salt water
The doctor thankfully prescribed antibiotics... the crackling lungs was horrible! |

"Ps thank god I live in the Netherlands where the health service is MUCH better than the NHS. I think I would have died if I was in the UK! "
If the health service is much better in the Netherlands, maybe you should listen to the doctors and nurses treating you |

"Hey there my fellow fathers!
I think I just about skipped death yesterday and should consider myself lucky. Anyone else with similar symptoms? Any advise on how to proceed? "
Why 'fathers'?
Are fathers more likely do die from pneumonia?
If the thread was for fathers, why are women responding to it? and how do I know that the other men who have answered aren't just pretending to be fathers? |

I like to break the rules if it says women stay out, fathers, men only, etc. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

A year ago, I was in hospital suffering from kidney stones, found out I'd got Pneumonia after I'd come round from the surgery to remove them and the doctor told me they'd 'discovered' it. Ended up with ventilation mask thing for a few days, and then nasal canula up me nose and another week in hospital till I could breathe better. I'm sure I developed it in the hospital as I other than the kidney stones I felt fine |

It’s nasty. My mum was hospitalised with pneumonia for over a week a few years back. She was delirious and could barely stand. Had to call an ambulance out. Was a scary time.
Hope you feel better soon OP x |

Speak to your Dutch medics. I can't imagine much of a language barrier there, unless you're in a rural backwater and the only medics are older people. In the cities and main hospitals, speaking good English is compulsory for the staff.
You can't do anything other than rest, take your prescribed medication and eat healthily. Don't smoke etc. It can take many months to fully recover. |
