Good morning and Happy Saturday Fabsters,
Do we have many 'alternative' music listeners in here?
If so... who do you listen to? Who have you seen live? Do you play any instruments?
Also, Bonus question #1... what is your music guilty pressure? Bonus question #2... do you find the OP hot?
Peace x

I have been in several bands. I did music at college and uni. I listen to metal, alternative, rock, bands, folk, acoustic etc I've seen Killswitch Engage live about 8 times and Funeral for a Friend about 6 times. Grew up on bands like Smashing Pumpkins, The Eagles Queen etc
Guilty pleasure, I quite like a bit of DnB (Pendulum, Wilkinson, Chase and Status etc) |

Yeah me and g are very much alt
Im a nu metal guy at heart - Linkin park, limp bizkit, slipknot, Korn etc
Have a few gigs lined up
soulfly, alien ant farm, lacuna coil, punk rock factory, falling in reverse, soil, sum41 and bullet/triviums tour
Currently my big obsession is Light the torch - it's the band Howard Jones did after leaving Killswitch engage
Favourite song right now - the signal fire KSE with Howard and Jesse in the same song - perfection |

Big rock fan here and the bands I've seen lately were Pearl Jam and AC/DC both of which were great. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic so I'm listening to alot of Cure, Cult, Black Crowes, etc as well as NiN, Alter Bridge and the like. |

I do have a few left field albums in my collection (Earth Wind and Fire, Bocelli for eg) but otherwise it entirely Heavy Tock and Metal. Huge Maiden fan, only one album I’m missing, have everything on vinyl and also on CD.
Current fav is a Kiwi band, Black Smoke Trigger who I urge you all to take a listen to.
Last night I saw Stone Broken in Southend. Brilliant. |

I saw Killswitch with Howard at Brixton one time, great live. They also supported Maiden on the Book tour I think Jesse, although Howard guested. Like the drummers vibe. |

Love rock and metal. Gig wise got Sum 41 and Slipknot coming up. Seen Corey Taylor and loved him so I'm really looking forward to that. Rammstein and System of a Down are the two dream bands I'd love to see live.
I've quite enjoyed listening to surf music in the last couple of years. Beach Boys, Dick Dale, Surfaris etc
Shredwave too. Found its a great play list in the gym |

Would put myself in this camp (obscure American hardcore bands etc) but it feels like labels such as Alternative have pretty much evaporated and lost meaning these days. The dominant genre is genre less. Blaming Spotify and all those streaming services.
Off to listen to some GYBE to unwind |

"I love all sorts, there's times I want metal music and others I want something alternative or completely chilled and acoustic.
I'm the same, it's very mood dependant"
Exactly that, music is all about mood. Nobody wants to listen to dancing on the ceiling when they feel like screaming |

It’s their last ever to coincide with their last ever tour. But as a Kiss fan, I always take that with a pinch of salt when a band says it |

Listen to most genres (Soul, Rap, drill, disco all the way through to death metal and beyond)
Not everything is good and will make it to my Spotify playlist but I will always give something new regardless of genre a listen.
Today my favourite artist is Big Special.
Tomorrow will be something or someone else.
Guilty pleasure if you can ever have one is…
Time To Say Goodbye (Con te partiró) - Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli. |

Lots of swinging rockers about. I hold a swinging rock n metal night at Pandora in Leeds 2-3 times a year and it's always well over 300 people. I did the last one in April and the next guestlist for 5th Oct has been filling since then - eager people! Ha ha
Anyone interested drop me a message, it's well worth a visit. Rocknights run by true metal heads are immense 🤟🏼 |
