Are there any arthritis suffers on here?

Looking for a bit of advise....

I've suffered with it for years, on medication for it, but still get pain in my joints and spine.

For the past few days, I've got it in my fingers and never had it there before, so wondered if any sufferers have any tips on easing the pain?

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I've had arthritis in my knees for some time now. I lost weight, which helped. I take no-high-impact exercise. And I have glucosamine, fish oils and New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel (which is imported - you can get it online). I find that if I don't take those then the pain is worse, especially when it is cold.

I also only eat red meat once a week - as that can set it off.

have you ever tried paraffin wax treatments on your hands? They can ease the pain significantly in the short term.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Hips, knees and feet and sometimes my hands. I keep them strapped when they hurt too much but also keep them moving. The pain eases after bearing the pain of the initial movements.

Get a blood test and see if your inflammation levels are very high or still have a way to go.

I've only tried ultrasound on my elbows. I'll look up paraffin wax treatments, thanks x

I can only swim for exercise, then need someone help to dress me after it.

I'm on so many tablets, I'm frightened to take suppliments incase they interact with my meds.

I take one 200mg hydroxychoroquine and sulfasalazine and 6 500mg daily for the arthritis and spondylitis.

Discuss it with your GP. My GP actually recommended the glucosamine - they used to actually prescribe it but no longer do now.

I have straps for my elbows, the inflamation is so bad, its given me tennis elbow, so have ultrasound therapy on them

I have blood tests every 4 weeks and my ESR levels are always very high

I'm waiting on an appt with my rheumatology consultant, as the nurse I see regularly is stumped as I'm on the highest dose of meds and inflamation markers remain high.

Fingerless gloves help with hand pain as they compress the veins in your hand and help improve circulation in your hand. Just get the pound ones, my mother never takes hers off now

I've suffered from arthritis in my knees and hands for the past 10 years, but I have found various ways to ease the condition.

On waking up, I always start my day with a hot bath; it eases any stiffness in the joints and helps to relax my muscles for the rest of the day.

I'm on medication prescribed by my GP; I am on Arthrotec 75mg tablets, at a dosage of up to 2 per day, though I tend to find that just one a day is quite sufficient in normal circumstances.

Only in very cold weather when my joints feel the cold especially badly, do I take take the 2nd tablet in every 24 hours.

I tend to find that taking the tablet with some food a 2-3 hours before I go to bed, also tends to lessen the painful effects when waking up, as it works into my system whilst I'm sleeping.

My GP swears that my loss of 3 stones in weight last year has eased the pressure on my knees. In cold weather, I also wear lined trousers, such as sold by Regatta and other similar companies which also help to insulate heat around the knees.

Lastly, having a good quality duvet aids my condition; before I switched to a natural one from a synthetically filled type, I'd wake up with cold, painful hands in the morning!

the weather really affects me. I lost nearly 4 stone last year, but struggle to exercise, due to other health conditions.

My physiotherapist refused to continue with exercise as my joints were so bad.

Had acupuncture to release the tension in surrounding muscles.

I dont see my GP regarding the arthritis, I see a rheumatology nurse that specifies in arthritis. Just need see my consultant again.

Due an MRI scan soon too.

I have it in my toes on one foot..bloody painful first thing in the morning and in one of my fingers...

Doctor prescribed anti inflammatory's...they worked well on my toes, but they make my ears ring badly and affect me 'down there'

I wonder if they will offset it with some Cialis or Viagra on prescription?

I have arthritis in most joints now and have fibromyalgia. I had a hip replacement 3 yrs ago aged 44 following chemo . I take low doses of hydrocortisone , brufen and high doses of codeine but I find the best pain relief is after a whole body orgasm

I am pain free for a few hours and is bliss

My new hip aches for a few days after sex but worth it

I tried all those tablets, did nothing, but that was before I was diagnosed with the arthritis and spondylitis, so they put me on the hydroychloroquine and sulfasalazine and gabapentin.

I have ME which is similar to FM, its a nightmare.

Orgasms seem to work with me too! But then I suffer afterwards!

possibly, talk to your GP, you can ask for a private script, but you'll pay £50 or there about, I had a friend with the same problem.

I'm the same, as I have Diabetes Type 2 as well, but I never have any problems at all, as I take Cialis 20mg tablets, on prescription. Personally, I tend to find that taking one at least 24 hours before I know I'll need the "effects" works wonders for me, though it can be just as satisfying as little as an hour before sex.

Good idea, thanks...I wont 'ask' though..I'll leave it to them to mention it..all I will say is affects me 'down below'..Im far to bashful to go into detail, even if they have heard it all before.

awww you shouldn't be embarrassed. If I have issues 'down below', I go into gory details and I get told its TMI, lol! I'm at my GP's every week, so I'm really relaxed with them, especially my nurse. Dont know what I'd do without her!
