"Does anyone have any knowledge on what to look for in a second hand camper van any recommendations?
Does anyone have one they are thinking of selling ? "
It depends what you've lost and whether it was lost in a campervan! |

Look for YouTube videos on the subject and there are motor magazines that specialise, also there are dedicated camper van sales garages, there is one on the A303 in Sparkford, Somerset for instance must be similar all over UK. See my profile for a camper van seduction! |

You say camper van so this comment leaves out motor home issues.
First: make and model. Look for issues regular vans have. This included any issues associated with age. This should help you work out what van will best suit you. If you are looking at something fairly new be sure to check if it has warranties
Interior fit. From equipment to furniture and fit out including insulation and electrics. This is the minefield. Quality of build and fitments are so important. I know someone who purchased a new ish factory built camper and has totally refitted it as the quality was shocking.
Lastly. Research insurance and ULEZ as these are now minefields |

Prices are still very high since the pandemic and the amount of new people converting vans since then because it's a good earner has led to some 'interesting' designs..
If your choice is a new van conversion I would look for a company that's been in business prior to 2020 plus would have an independent engineer inspection and make sure it's got a gas safe certificate.. |

"Mine is a 20 year old former BT transit box van , well maintained and is pretty decent for stealth camping . Body rust is a nuisance but structurally solid busses . "
I had a tranny and lost her to rust |

Too many variables to give a useful answer.
High tops give you more space including standing up to get dressed and cook dinner but low roofs allow you to get under height barriers which can be useful in busier places.
Things I found made a big difference included a large water tank. A toilet with an easy way to empty. Tinted windows. Diesel heater. Comfortable mattress. Solar and a good charging system.
Obviously for the vehicle you want the most reliable and comfortable you can afford. Ours had twin wheels which proved useful in muddy fields.
If you get a conversion check it's been weighed on a weigh bridge. |
