Twas a time when with some effort and a certain degree of good luck you could bag a cheap holiday and still enjoy it and not come back with the shits!

Nowadays seems cheap holidays have gone the way of department stores and good manners, definitely a thing of the past.

Looking at next year and even a 2/3 star place breakfast only in Greece is best part of two grand or more.

We had a week B&B in Corfu in June for £1400 with TUI. Just booked 8 nights in Gran Canaria B&B with Jet2 for £1320. They seem good value considering most hotels over here are close to £100 or over per night.

Not sure I've booked a package holiday, but I can understand the benefits.

I just buy flights and then pick places with private rooms - don't really need the amenities of a hotel/resort as I'll do my own thing and eat elsewhere anyway.

For how many ?

I’ve just been looking at Turkey end of sept this year 4* for £500 . I am also going start of Aug For £220 (flight only) but I won’t pay more than £400 for the accom.
