Decided I realllllly need to tackle the flab and using this post as a bit of accountability for myself. I probably have about 4 stone or more to lose but not overly concerned about weight per se.
In 6 months time, I will post one of the best before/after pics you've ever seen (hoping this kind of pressure might help me )
Any good words of advice from the healthy folk or good weight/fat loss journeys to report? That would be awesome

Take it 1lb at a time.
Don’t look at 4 stone. Instead look at it as lose 1lb, then repeat it 56 times.
Small changes can have good results.
Consistency.
Don’t let a bad day derail your efforts, it’s only one day out of 183 |

No or low sugar as much as you can. It's in everything so you can't really avoid it but if you're aware you can at least cut the large contributors then manage the rest. Snack on healthy stuff not carby stuff - again this goes back to sugar. Get as colourful a plate as you can not a beige one. |

Don't drink your calories,
If you want fizzy get zero.
Don't restrict food groups, just reduce the amount and make smarter choices.
Go for a walk every day and get your steps in.
The scale can lie depending on water retention, try measuring aswel.
One bad day doesn't reverse your hard work so don't feel guilty about it and start fresh the next day. |

Calories in, out and a good balance of exercise. Don’t go to extremes to try and lose weight too quick. Your metabolism depending on how yours works, you’ll see the weight come back on when you go back to normal portions if you lose a lot rapidly. Good luck |

As someone who has lost 50 odd pounds in the last 7 months herself, I think I am "qualified" to speak on this topic.
I eat pretty much the same as I was, just smaller portions, in fact one of my cupboards at home has more snacks in it than I ever had before, I'm not even joking. Some days I feel like I'm eating just for the sake of eating all my calories for the day.
My out look is it's not a diet, it's a change of diet, while I'm still eating crisps and stuff, I make sure I eat breakfast as I didn't before (only time I don't is if I know I'm going out for something to eat), I rarely do exercise if I'm totally honest now, I use my working time to keep as active as possible (which isn't easy as I'm a receptionist) but when I have a down time moment, I'm making myself busy. I know I'd probably lose more weight quicker if I was too join a gym but for me, I'm definitely not ready for that part of my life yet.
I think losing weight is something that only you can work out, not one size fits all, Janice down the road might be on her shake of whey, seeds and fruit going to the gym 5 days a week, nick up the road might be doing slimming world, it what works for you OP and what ultimately makes you happy, I'm insanely happy with how things are going at the moment and I'm not going to change that x |

Build muscle, it’s one of the best ways to burn fat.
Muscle needs calories just resting, that’s why bodybuilders have such a high calorie intake.
Eat as clean as possible but allow yourself a few treats and have a few days refeed on good carbs every month or so.
Do 15 minutes cardio straight after a weights workout as your glycogen stores should be depleted and you are burning body fat for energy.
Proper cardio day separate from a weights day but don’t go crazy on it, recovery is paramount.
There is loads of good tips on YouTube but pick guys who have years of competitive experience not all these IG type gurus who have all these fads to build a muscle.
Good luck OP |

Don’t do a fad diet. Reduce your portions.
Exercise little and often, it’s hard at first but it will become addictive, once you see the changes.
Don’t weigh yourself and think you’ve not lost anything. Look at the way your body looks and feels in dresses that were too tight.
Make your goals achievable - fit exercise into your work/life balance as a routine - if you make it harder to do you’ll stop doing it.
Be kind on yourself
Good luck

Eat adequate protein
Adjust carb/fat intake down to create energy deficit
Weight train to build muscle which will increase metabolism and have a far more visual impact on your appearance than cardio ever could
Add cardio for heart health and assist energy defecit
In 6 months you will be unrecognisable mate

Exercise…. It’s critical, plus avoid too much sugar stuff and saturated fats ( fizzy drinks as the thread suggests are awful for you ) in fact some sugar free drinks are a problem for the liver to break down beware ….
Alcohol is a calorie killer it rocks it on
Swim if you can it’s a great 5 star exercise,
Loads of sex to burn off the calories
Good luck … it takes over a year for your brain to realise your new body shape and weight without going into “panic mode” scoff everything you see !
Read about fasting too ….

Progress is slow, boring and frustrating but if you can keep it consistent you will get big results.
Less carbs more protein. Cut out junk food and after a couple of weeks you wont crave it any more. Don't drink calories. |

Definitely this ^ and a few things from what others have said too.
Try not to restrict yourself, you're more likely to binge/crave what you've taken away.
Cut portions, focus on lean protein and veg, with complex carbs. Protein keeps you fuller for longer.
Make sure you're well hydrated. Drink a glass of water 30 mins before you eat.
Cut down on alcohol, if you drink.
There's stuff online about flowing calorie deficits, and how much you need to consume to lose weight. Drop your calories slowly and it won't feel so noticable/restrictive.
(Unlike me) Move more. Expend some calories, but don't "make up" what you expend by eating!!
.
.
.
Best of luck!! It's not easy, but you can do this xx |

I used to follow before/after pics on other social media sites, as a bit of inspiration.
Hope it goes well just take each day as it comes and don’t put too much pressure on yourself to reach goals. You lose what you lose, when you lose it. |

My advice would be to enjoy the journey. You’ll have good days, crap days and days which just pass by.
If you ever feel the enthusiasm waning, jump on here and we’ll help you get back on track.
Good luck OP! |
