Gone and completely forgotten.

Vesta meals?

I think the first "foreign" food I tasted as a kid was the Beef Chow Mein. I loved the stuff, which was a regular meal in my student days too.

I liked the Risotto too, but I was less keen on the curries, because of the fruit.

What other foods from the olden times do remember/miss?

My dad worked for the company who made them so we always had plenty of them. Loved the paella the best.

There's a Wimpy in Kilmarnock. I'm not rushing there for a nostalgic blast!

I'm not a fish eater, so that one didn't appeal.

Always puzzled me why popular fast selling products like vesta disappeared from the shelves. Was there something in them like a preservative that got banned?

Now there's a blast from the past. Like many, a vesta curry was I think my first ever experience of 'foreign' food.

The chow mein, wow the memories of those bad boys

It was the crispy noodles that rocked those beasts

But get them wrong and it was the dentist

I miss the big Mars bars. Before they made them dual bars. The concentration to eat the caramel off without breaking the noughat. Kept me quiet.

I think you can still get them in B&Ms! Was tempted when I saw them last time.

The paella was my favourite but I always remember after the Friday night big shop my dad would cook his chow mein up!

We were in an Iceland type shop yesterday and they sold the findus pancakes.

I also remember cod in butter sauce boil in the bags. Chicken supreme in two boil in the bags - one rice and one the rest
