“ let me be clear “ always sounds like an angry statement - angry is to strong a word tbh- though when you think about it it’s not at all .
Sounds quite confident .
Forgive me I been in therapy for a year and learnt how to interact with people . So I’m always listening to people. |

I think it's a deliberately misleading statement. It appears that they are stating their intention to be clear about something that is very important (usually) but they never are.
As soon as I hear those words from a politicians mouth I mentally roll my eyes |

Why do a lot of politicians say “well look” or “look” whenever questioned? I think we can all agree that’s probably something a lot of politicians do whenever questioned for the same reason they repeat the question a couple of times before answering. It’s to buy time. |

Let me be absolutely clear. It's a way of priming the audience to perceive what they're about to say as more important and impactful. People are really susceptible to psychological tricks like that.
Same reason politicians don't point, they use index finger curled round thumb. |

Look, let me absolutely clear. I have always believed in X, Y, or Z. And that’s why we are going to A, not B. Unlike my learned colleague in the other party we actually believe X is important. And that’s how you ignore a question completely and use your minute in the spotlight as an opportunity to speak about the things your media trainer told you to shoehorn into the conversation at any cost. |
