Only blocking the person or couple I think removes it otherwise it up to them not to make it public. Unless you delete your account.

Blocking them will remove the text of the verification but the number will remain in their count and the type of profile it's from

For what it's worth I don't think people should be able to take a veri back.

Seems blocking the person is the best way
