Brucey back to London!

Jump to: Newest in thread

London

Yeah after 2 weeks I have decided I'm going back south after all.

What a waste of time up here! I mean good money and work etc but London bound again soon.

But the point of this thread is, has anyone ever tried moving to a city and just not enjoyed it for whatever reason?!

I moved from Liverpool to Watford. Hated Watford. Moved to Wales. This feels more like home. I don't miss Liverpool at all. Wales feels like where I should be.

The job is the only one of those that might make me make a rapid decision after only 2wks. You can't exactly get into a dating scene or find all the right venues for leisure, within 2wks of moving.

And buses are shit everywhere, including London.

I used to despise London. I can now enjoy short bursts of time down there, especially if the weather is nice and I can push everywhere. I don't like it in the rain

I couldn't live there though. I agree, it's too impersonal, too busy and no-one seems terribly bothered about anyone else and are always in excessive hurry!

I can tolerate it in small doses, especially if combined with some of the very gorgeous and sexy people who I have a mutual attraction to

To be fair, Manchester as a city is not the best. However, it's like any other place. It has good areas, it has bad. And yeah, two weeks isn't a long enough time to find all the good points.

I moved down near Peterborough years ago. It was ok, but for me it was too far from the sea. I grew up on the coast, and I will now ALWAYS live no more than an hour away from a beach. Thays just me though hahahaha

London is a huge place. I say I'm going to London for a night out, and I live in London.

My area is a whole different world to central London. It's pretty quiet, not much in the way of pubs or bars. Barely any restaurants but we do have a cinema, bowling alley and Bingo establishment

Those bloody ramps drive me mad. They can't open if the bus is too near or too low, and they get stuck.

When they won't budge we have to get off.

The Boris buses are way too hot in summer, throw you around and sound like they're falling apart; which is why they have a new design.

They are cheap though. £1.75 for as many buses as you want in one hour, or £5.25 for the whole day.

Hope all works out, Brucey. I like Manchester, but London is one of the world's greatest cities - I wouldn't live anywhere else. London likes people that like London: if you spend the whole time worrying about how busy it is or that a pint costs more than in [generic town], it's probably not for you.

But I did have to wait a whole 4 mins for a tube today, which was a bloody outrage.

"Hope all works out, Brucey.

I used to hate London. I don't hate it anymore, I quite enjoy spending a day or two there. But I still don't think I'd like to live there. I also wouldn't want to live in Grimsby or Watford or a bunch of other places though

"You haven't really given it long Bruce."

No but I have realized south is home you know? I think that's ultimately what it's all about.

However I do have a hot date with a Latina today...

You need more than 2 weeks to establish friends and Manchester city centre is better with friends for nightlife. You can see virtually nothing of a place in that time. But if the better work is in London and your heart is not for staying, then it's right to move on.

Apart from failed dates, stripping to your briefs in a club, etc - what did you think of the people in Manchester?

Shit

No I'm joking, it's fine, I've never seen much difference between people in cities to be honest as people go.

I have worked in Manchester a lot over my career, this isn't will smith fresh prince style new location. I just don't love the place.

.

Have you actually moved to Manchester or is it just a work placement for a few weeks and you're not feeling it and it's quite easy for you to go back to London?

Because, you know, that work placement will be over soon.

"2 weeks?!?!?

You scared him away

I think the northern birds did that already "

Nope; sure it was the lack of Northern birds in Cupids which helped him make up his mind…..
