Im looking for some help. I have a Mercedes CLK 270 automatic and the problem is, when I go to pull away, it's like it's in limp mode but a lot slower. Sometimw the breaks stick at first but are sooon freed. The pistons aren't seized and the discs/pads are good and it stops whenthe break is applied. Any ideas? I've asked a few people but they ate stumped |

Everything you say is pointing to your brakes.
It sound like your brake pistons are not releasing. Usually caused by internal corrosion. This happens when you don't change your brake fluid every 2 years. Moisture is absorbed in the fluid and corrodes the brake cylinder walls causing them to stop releasing correctly.
It could also be a switch issue on your brake pedal if you have stop start. It's linked to your hand brake and stops it releasing.
Ie.. put it in park. Hand brake goes on. Foot on brake and move into drive. At this point, the faulty brake pedal switch doesn't tell the hand brake to release. Many Renaults suffer this problem.
Unfortunately, without the vehicle in front of me, its difficult to give you an absolute answer, just a best guess from known problems. |

Take it to a garage? Preferably one that specialises in Mercedes vehicles? |

Hopefully the engine is behaving correctly and not an Engine Management/ Fuelling issue. Does the issue occur when the transmission is hot or cold? Does the revs rise when pulling up a hill? If it’s both I’d first check the transmission fluid condition and level (this may have to be done at idle when the trans is at working temp mind) if fluid level is correct check 1st gear pull by applying slight handbrake, selecting drive and seeing when the torque converter overcomes the drag of the handbrake. Failing to pull may be indicative of a trans issue. Take it to a specialist auto transmission shop - they’ll be able to give you a diagnosis before embarking on any repair / overhaul. |
