There was a great podcast a few years back called "Hot Money: Who Rules Porn?" by a couple of Financial Times reporters who investigated who ruled porn. To their surprise they discovered that rather than porn being ruled by some seedy billionaire living in tax exile, it turned out it was the payment processors who to the payment processors' horror realised that they were the life blood of the porn industry and allied services.
Given that America is largely controlled by the superstitious who do not believe in freedom of religion or freedom from religion the payment processors have been withdrawing services or threatening to withdraw services from those that don't comply with their moral code.
A number of kink sites (one being my favourite shibari film site) have had to close due to the refusal to process their payments.
With the current superstitious make up of the Supreme Court things will get worse in America and by default the rest of the world for those who wish that the superstitious would not interfere with their sex lives.
