They’ll be watching nothing then.

The final stage is a TT that finishes in Nice.

What no Paris? Had to check the schedule and route, that's a bit of a downer. Seems odd to end on a time trial

Paris is building the Olympics remember.

And why not finish with a TT, I think it’s better than a procession. Imagine being able to win the Tour on the final day. Not very often a rider can be able to say that.

Win it on the last day? Yeah I see where your coming from. I'm a long term motorsport fan, I've seen a few races won and lost on the last lap and even last corner over the years.

The 1989 TdF finished with a TT ending on the Champs Elysee, when Greg LeMond beat Laurent Fignon by 58 seconds and overturned Fignon's previous 50 second lead to win the Tour by 8 seconds. We should be so lucky to get anything as dramatic as that in Nice this year!

"8 seconds in July", a film title if ever there was one.

..after approximately 2000 miles, two mountain ranges and the advent of TT bars/Tri-bars, not even getting shot in the back can hold someone like Greg back. If Fignon had the same bars on his bike, it would have been very different and the Frenchman's final win.

I remember it on Channel 4 at the time and always will do.

"Cav "

Carlsberg should change their logo to the Manx Tri legged icon and rename their brand to Cavendish...probably the best sprinter in the world.

Mario Cippolini might say other wise at 44 Giro stage wins.

Well done Sir Cav, Better than Merckx!

Cav’ has only ever been about winning stages, and getting that sponsor logo on the telly. GC topping is not in the sprinters job description. I’ve respect for the sprinters that manage to keep up with the mountain goats to get to the end of Grand tours. It must be brutal for guys that can’t/hate climbing.

It is, that's why the autobus is called the self-supporting group. Cippolini never liked the mountains at all.

Can you imagine Usain Bolt trying to keep up with Mo Farrah in the London Marathon, or Mo Farrah trying to do the 100M?

It's about power to weight ratio vs explosive power. Think a candle vs a firework.

So do I and \i imagine Eddy will be cheering him on as well.

He'll be on a massive and well earned ego boost, after all those dark days, crashes, no selections, burglary, negative press and absolutely dying on the climbs. No matter how much the next few weeks hurt, his arrival over the finish line in Nice, will be an emotional one.
