I know it's not possible to "wallow" in a shower (more's the pity...there is nothing like a good wallow in the bath, is there?), but how long is an average shower for you ?
.
Are you a quick "in and out" operative, a super long "soaker" or somewhere in-between ?
.
My average is 30 mins. 20 mins in a rush, 40 mins if I'm feeling particularly lethargic. I've no idea how long Mrs DS takes, nor do I stopwatch her.

Agree, how can it take longer? Now a bath can be hours (what with books and Podcasts and constantly topping up with hot water). |

Oh there is so much that can extend a shower duration.
.
You've got to make sure all the assorted bottles of unguents are suitably full and top up any that are not.
.
The correct cleaning items are where they are supposed to be. (You know a professional kitchen has different coloured cloths for certain applications ? Some folks might adopt a similar approach to a face cloth, body cloth, and er, other cloth(s).
.
Then there is setting the controls.
.
Getting things to the right temperature. That includes all nozzles. Forget to do them and whilst you've done the monsoon head and the shower head, if you forget the body nozzles you'll know when freezing water comes out quick enough you forgot to check them !
Pre-flight checks I guess.

All part of "The Ritual".
.
Because for some, a cleansing is more than just a physical activity. It can be a deeply spiritual one as well. It can be a "transitionary" experience. A "re-framing" and "resetting" of your mental well-being.
.
A "soothing" of your very being.
And as the first droplets begin to cascade down, "The Ritual" begins.

So yeah, 10 mins is barely enough time for some |

Rubik always poos before but I can't just poo on demand! |

If I was in the shower for 30 minutes I would be in a lot of pain and discomfort for hours after. I shower every day and it 5 mins tops
I envy people that can have baths and long showers.

Everywhere is washed multiple times. Slowly.

When I’m washing my hair, nearly an hour.
Every day type of shower 25-30 minutes.
The extended special shower, one hour.
I only shave my legs and no where else on my body, so this is purely just showering or the combination of showering and washing my hair as I only spend about two minutes shaving my legs. |

About thirty generally.
If I'm having an everything shower? A good hour or so, including dealing with the mane. I always make sure I have a very cold drink ready for after as I feel exhausted.  |

Genuine question those that are in the shower for over 15 mins, if you aren't shaving, just washing your hair and your body, what are you doing in there for so long? Every day? I always wonder how other people shower and bath, I guess I'm just not a relaxer and use it as a vessel to get myself clean and once that's done I'm out |

Me too. The thought of lying in a bath for ages sounds like an absolute nightmare for me. Can’t even remember the last time I had a bath, probably years! Doesn’t appeal to me at all. I get in the shower, do what I need to do then straight out. |

Thanks it runs in the family being allergic to chlorine. Technically it's a chemical burn so antihistamines don't work. X

4 minutes. I have a timer the water company sent us. I wash my hair and body and get out.
I also moan at my husband about the gas bill when he has his 20 minute showers. It's what keeps the marriage going |

I love a long shower, 10 minutes is me probably rushing. I just like the feeling of the hot water on me.
I was often getting told off by parents when I lived at home due taking too long and steaming the bathroom up. |

What a fascinating peek in to the lives of one's fellow humans and their showering peccadilloes !
I saw a few posts about baths, which are the epitome of luxuriant-time sinkers, are they not ?
I think my record in a bath was 4 hours. That was a lot of topping up to stave off the chill, but it was glorious. Transcendental even. And that has just given me idea for another forum post |

My husband is always in there for 30/45 mins at a time. He literally stands there under the water and does nothing other than listening to music 
I'm normally in and out in 10mins flat that's washing my hair and everything |

People criticising people for only being 10 mins…
I can be in the shower 5 mins and no one has ever said ‘jeez you smell’ - I don’t time myself but I don’t fanny around - a shower is meant to save you water, not use more than a bath!
