Down with waste

All over

Just given myself a right telling off for wasting another load of bananas. I like them only slightly ripe, almost green. I buy them like that and then forget to use them and before you know it, they are yuk and only good for perhaps a banana loaf or something like it that I don't always feel like making. How good are you at not wasting stuff like that or do you need a telling off too?

That is amazing and well done you. I might ask for advice as I am a foodie but I sure I can do better as spend far too much on food to be honest

I have hardly any waste for me, food waste has always bothered me. Having a toddler is very challenging for that. I can't bring myself to eat their recycled food though after it's been pawed and thrown around! That's waste I struggle to get used to!

Yeah, I get quite cross with myself if I waste food. With veggies, unless I'm going to cook/use them all that day, I'll chop them up and put in freezer bags. I cook fresh meals most days and will batch cook, as its more economical, and then put individual portions in tubs and freeze.

MB, in terms of your bananas, slice them up and freeze. If you then blitz them while frozen, you've got instant banana ice cream, or add milk for a milkshake. Both delicious

Secret hideaway in the pennines

My monthly shop is about £65.

Meats are portioned into single portions, vac packed and frozen, so no waste there.

Fresh fruit get the same treatment if it isn't eaten quickly.

My food waste is virtually zero
