Yay or nay?
It’s definitely a no from me my lovelies, but lots do love it and I guess my 2p on it is that if everyone is informed and consensual what other people get up to is their business, right?
What’s your view?
Keep it civil please .. |

Nay. Not risking my health for 2 seconds of pleasure. |

"Any answer other than Safe Sex Only would be Fab suicide.
I doubt it, there's loads of bareback threads. They get quite popular. "
Fair enough. I haven't seen one in the lounge as long as I've been on here. I dare not enter the Swinger's forum though. |

"nay from me - some risks are worth taking, not this one"
100% agree I think one person OP Suggested a rather interesting comment
No glove no love … which seems appropriate |

"You do realise you can pass on an STI via oral sex so do you all insist on using a condom then too? "
This is always a quirk of the swing scene : everyone seems happy to give unprotected oral when the risk of STI’s and throat cancer from HPV is still reasonably high. |

Something we wondered is if there is the risk reduced to zero by using condoms? Obviously there is the split Johnny risk but if fully functional are you actually completely safe?
I ask because there are those that might not be as truthful as you'd believe out there and if you do play safe but they are riddled because they don't - how safe are you? |

I did a bit of reading about this and the risk is estimated to be reduced by 98% in perfect circumstances.
Factoring in improper use and human error the risk reduction is estimated at 85%
Your mileage may very depending on what you read. |

That's also 85% for sex using a condom, add in risk for oral and basic human contact etc.... for a realistic assessment of the risk of even protected sex |

And variation of risk for individual STI's
It seems HIV increases the risk by about 10%
Again, I'm not a data analyst. I just looked up the various risk factors and these are broad statistics. |

We've indulged in a limited way with tested people and test ourselves.
I think we would be mortified if we ever gave someone an STI but somewhere in the region of 85% protection on top of the testing and limitation regime seems reasonable |

Think of this another way. A pistol with eight chambers and eight pleasure rounds to be fired into a pussy. One of those rounds has an STI and some STI can never be cured and could kill you. Are you ready to pull that trigger? Russian Roulette. |

It's not 1 in 8 but worryingly there is an upward trend of both gonorrhoea and syphilis especially in the youth |

If everyone’s on PrEP, why not?! Guards against HIV.
As syph, gonny & chlamydia can all be passed on through oral, you’d have to use condoms & dams for those things too….No one’s doing that, are they? I mean, who’s using condoms and dams for oral? Gotta be a very small number of swingers.
Do, Event based PrEP or continuous PrEP is far better than worrying about condoms breaking etc. |

I'd rather have a wank than put a comedy rubber wrapper over my cock. It feels and looks absolutely ridiculous and I just can't..no.
If I miss out because of it then I miss out. |

Apparently there'll be a new prep out soon that you can take that eliminates more than hiv risk |

"If everyone can show recent test results. No issue whatsoever
You don't know what they have done between the results and meeting yourself."
True. Would take some amount of trust aswell that they are being honest about what they may have done/not done after results. |

It's not just the STI risk. Or is everyone just assuming contraception has a 100% protection rate?
Bareback absolutely feels better and in a risk free world I'd be all for it. But until then we'll stick with condoms (and the coil)
We don't use protection for oral because the risks are lower and oral with protection is so unpleasant I just wouldn't bother.

+1 for vasectomies. Best decision I ever made.
There's nothing quite like making safe sex safer. |

We go bareback but this only applies to our current FWB. The first few times or on offs are a must.
We are always open and honest with partners about that fact and we get tested regularly. As a few posts above have said, some people will get on there full on high horse about it but are happy to only rubber up for penetrative sex like that's the only way sti's work.
Each to there own and we'd make our decisions with a 3rd person based on the information they have given us and we've given them |

This. It's not always about bare or not. It's about safe or not. |
