Last for me was 'My old man' by Mac Demarco.
My son sent it to me whilst recovering in my hospital bed after a heart attack.
(I had asked for meaningful songs to be sent but that really did get me) |

Someone great - LCD Soundsystem. It describes a situation that was very similar to something I experienced in my mid 20s.
On a less sad note, I cried hearing Beethovens 9th in concert - just the sheer beauty of it. Stunning |

"One more light Linkin Park"
This played on the radio just after I found out my friend had passed from cancer a year ago.
I was in floods.
She's Leaving Home by The Beatles used to get me when I was a late teen/early 20s
The Living Years by Mike and The Machanics used to make me cry too. |

"Abide with me especially the line "When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me" reminds me of my mother who was in care but couldn't really be helped "
Sang this at a funeral just last week |

"On the street where you live"
I have this image in my head from when I was nursing Mum in her last few weeks
I can see her now, sat on the loo (of all places), eyes closed, gently rocking and singing this song very quietly
I can't imagine what was going on in her head at that moment, but the song obviously provided some soothing and solace for her
For that reason, it will be forever special |

Don't stop believing - don't know why it gets me.
Fields of gold - mother
Brothers In Arms - father
And today for no reason I turned into a blubbering mess when Rocket Man came on the telly!
I think because both above are recent losses I still have alot of untapped emotion waiting to find a reason to surface. |

Hurt by Johnny Cash, gets me every time.
Somebody that I used to know by Gotye,
My best mate would listen to this song every day in his last months of MND as he watched his wife go completely off the rails and his family fall apart, and he was helpless to do anything about it.
Such a sad time in my life, |

There's a couple of songs that get me to this day...
Id really warn anyone who's lost someone close before watching James Blunt one below. It's powerful. The kings of Leon is personal to me as it came out during my divorce and hurts to this day...
James Blunt - Monsters

"Tower of Strength by The Mission
Pictures of you by The Cure
Pictures of you is a corker... "If only I'd thought of the right words, I could have held onto your heart" "
Gets me every time, one of my favourite songs ever |
