"They were always girls you fancied back in the day
No idea why crumpet equaled a hot girl lol"
Blame the cockney slang of "Strumpet"- "nice bit of Crumpet"

In South Africa, crumpets are what seem to be called Scotch Pancakes here. I was very confused by these weird round things with holes that were labelled "crumpets" when I first got here. |

Toasted perfectly. Slightly crispy, bit of a bite. Hate those pale, insipid, doughy things with not enough hole ratio.
Slightly cooled so the butter doesn't drip through on to my fingers (that can be fun though).
Has to be really good butter.
Sometimes have them with cheese or lemon curd, the perfect crumpet just needs butter though. |

"I will say, toasted with butter and cherry curd is just amazing. "
Oh cherry curd! I'd never heard of this heavenly thing, good excuse to visit some farm shops this weekend! Thank you Davina. |

My Choice would be Warburtons Crumpets, toasted, topped with butter and Marmite.
When the mood takes me I drop the Marmite and top them with my homemade 3 fruit marmalade. |

Exactly! Loaves are in limited supply, if I have the chance to buy one and someone has got there before me? I'd be truly devastated.
Bar you. I'd be fine with you having my loaf. |
