Seagulls are not a "species", they can be one of many actual types of bird. In the uk they are mainly one of:
great black-backed gull
lesser black-backed gull
herring gull
common gull
black-headed gull
All of these ARE protected, so punching them is probably not allowed. |

What's the law where?
The UK has got three different legal systems.
(Although I imagine the gull punching legislation will have some parity across them all.)

The law is that you cannot do any harm to a seagull in any way ( while anyone is looking )

Hmmm. Ask the man who lives opposite us who when he moved here was pleased to see a seagull start nesting on his roof. Until he couldn't leave his house because it kept attacking him.
Nowadays as soon as a nest starts to be built it sadly and inexplicably disappears over night. I blame aliens.

surprised we're not inundated with the bird loving fraternity here I bought fish n chips the other night £11 walked out the shop 20 birds swooped on us from behind knocked it out of my hand then proceeded to gorge the rest i was in amongst them kicking got 3 at least ,greedy gannett's, various signs on the promenade mention its illegal to feed them but no mention of them stealing it . |
