I used to a fair bit (Allen) before our little one arrived. 35 marathons between 2012 and 2022.
Advice would be stick to your own targets, not everybody else’s. It is one of the only sports where you compete against yourself and even if you’re not very good (like me!) it’s a great form of relaxation and therapy. |

Pop some tunes on a playlist to pound away to. Because you’ll get to the end of the road and unless Eye of the Tiger starts playing you’ll think “fuck this!” and turn around and power walk back home. |

"Who here runs? What tips and advice do you have?"
I cycle rather than run but the hardest part about running is getting out the door
So tell yourself you’ll go out for five minutes, if you want to home you can, if you feel like you can do more tell yourself you’ll go for another five minutes and so forth
Fitness is a marathon and not a sprint, I’m more than happy to offer advice/opinions/help
Well done OP for making the step to start |

"After lots of knee issues after years of running my advice is don’t ….. if I knew then what I know now I’d walk or swim "
Cycling for me, leg gains and cardio
Win win
Swimming is great for the back though! |
