Not that I remember, but there is an interesting girl pair, one plays bagpipes, the other violin. They cover some really off the wall stuff, like heavy metal tracks. |

There's a wonderful (perhaps apocraphal) story about Miles Davis when he was invited to the Reagan White House.
Nancy came up to Miles, and asked him; "what was he doing there". Miles replied - "well, I've changed the course music has taken three or four times. What have you done Ma'am, besides fuck the President"?  |

Last weekend while 'everyone' was watching the football, I was watching Lucy Charles-Barclay winning Nice ironman.
I'm about to head off open water swimming.
My hobbies are scuba, saxophone, swimming, sex and spanking, I seem to like the letter S.

I don’t think he was always the nicest of guys, like many great artists. He was the real deal musically, though.
I like his late 1960s onwards electric. Some of it is bonkers, but I admire his dedication to changing what he did. Some of that early 1970s stuff is proto-drum and bass .
His Isle of Wight 1970 performance is on YouTube. It must have been pretty mindblowing being a hippie fried on acid watching that live. Amazing, out-there performance . |

I would add that it is deliberately consistent. Find a formula that works and stick with it, but no risk taking. It's virtually all either auto tuned, or at least has been processed in post production to make it more 'accurate'. |

It's very impressive that one man was integral to so many phases of jazz. He played bebop with Charlie Parker. He was there at the birth of the cool. He was integral to hard bop. He created modal jazz. He practically invented fusion. He was always creative and pushed boundaries.
Miles Davis is a towering figure in the history of Western music. I don't like all his stuff but some of it I love. At the last count I had 26 albums by him and several others he played on. |

I was lucky enough to be a 12 year old on holiday at Freshwater on the Isle Of Wight during the festival in 1970. I fully remember Hendrix, because i became a lifelong fan. I also sort of remember Miles Davis, if for no other reason than the music was completely different to anything else that played while i was there.
That said, Davis and Hendrix were very much musicaly from the same mould. |

Didn’t Hendrix and Davis play together, or were planning to when the former died?
The last few Hendrix recordings and the earlier changes in personnel were certainly suggesting a change in direction. It would have been interesting to see that develop more.

That’s pretty amazing. I don’t know what I would have made of the Miles Davis set at that age, though.
