What aftershave or perfume gives you PTSD?

Salt and vinegar crisps.
Well they can trigger flashbacks and dissociation.
It would need to be traumatic events like death of a loved one, witnessing or experiencing a horrific event, war, child abuse, sexual abuse, that kind of thing to cause someone to develop PTSD. Otherwise it would be a memory associated with a smell.
I like those memories a lot. Not so much keen on the flashbacks, where I am re-experiencing a traumatic event. |

There are a few with unpleasant associations, but fucked if I know what they are, I don't pay that much attention.
Proper PTSD? Nah. I've not had that many problems in that kind of arena, and/or the people who fucked me up didn't wear fragrance. |

At first I thought this might be a frivolous thread, but I take it back: it's one of the better ones today, OP.
I wouldn't go as far as PTSD for me but it's an evocation of unpleasant memories associated with scent... JOOP! and Fahrenheit remind me of a past funeral; the cloy'ing and parma-violets overpowering and sickly sweet overtures from the pulpits. Shalimar by Guerlain™ - reminding me of my art classes at school, the art teacher doused to buggery until we were all throwing up. |

I have very fond associations with Joop. The link between smell and memory is quite fascinating. |

Certainly not PTSD but Poison always makes me feel queasy.
Body Shop Musk makes me remember an awful weekend staying with my mate.
Aspen (do they still do it) will remind me of my best mate.
Body shop Ananya was my scent of choice as a teen, so that and insett spiky hairspray just takes me back to then. |

"Impulse 02 just makes me feel too many teen nights out with the cider & everyone wearing that."
Just seeing a can of Impulse takes me back to being a teenager, we used to drown ourselves in the stuff!
Joop, not because of PTSD, I just can't stand the smell of it. |
