But what I will tell you it from that thread yesterday about the prettiest, there are some women out there, I consider stunning and very good attractive. I wasn't the best looking teen due to long 'head banger' hair and dress-sense (lack of). All that changed in my 20s. Together image change and confidence increase it was quite the transformation. |

I don't think I'm ugly, nor do i believe im david garner but i do struggle with confidence about looks and can be self critical it doesn't darken my thoughts though and happy in myself. All this said it stings a little when someone says not my type. I mean come on I'm in the age range, gender and local area why aren't you inviting me over already!! Lol |

I would say I am below average.
I used to consider myself average. But with age and the ‘not for me’ response I get here (I know it’s not the only reason but also a reason) I have lowered my level of self.
That’s not for sympathy by the way…such is life … we can do much about it

I've never honestly considered myself good looking. I have had terrible teeth every since I was a kid, and I've always been aware of that. Am I ugly? Some may think so. My wife always said she thought I was good looking, and frankly that's the only opinion that's ever been important. |

I am so neutral on how I feel about myself in this context.
I've had some really lovely compliments. I don't tend to get called ugly.
I've had plenty of 'fucking hell mate how did you pull her?' type comments over the years. Compliment or insult who knows, maybe both?

I’m like Marmite you either do or you don’t unfortunately most don’t. But I’ve never been flatly told I’m UGLY as such, so low self esteem will always play a part and a lack of experiences in some departments will often make people think twice about something.
But if someone say looks don’t matter at all I would have to disagree, if there is attraction physically your just not going to go and introduce yourself are you.
Some may disagree but this is my opinion.
I am me and I will always be I can’t change the way I look to you and the only changes to myself I will make are the ones I want to.

My self esteem is pretty horrific after years of nasty relationships. Something I’m trying to work on. I do sometimes still find myself not messaging or rejecting someone because I think they’re attractive for me. Even if they’re interested. I just don’t want to waste anyone’s time. |

Personally I think I'm pretty. Sometimes I feel really hot and sexy. Other times I feel ageless, beautiful and I'm so grateful for that.
I'm fat.
People hate that I can be both pretty AND fat. That I can be confident that I don't hide in shapeless clothes or shadows. People will always try and bring me down.
I gave up caring what people thought about me. The right people will see what I do and they also appreciate that I am more than my face and body.

I find this whenever I use this site/ dating apps especially hinge and occasionally bumble, to be fair it might be low self esteem on my part viewing myself as undesirable coupled with far too many superficial profiles. I’m after a genuine person not a polished perfectionist, if that makes sense?  |

I’m not conventionally attractive, but I’m ok with that.
I don’t have delicate feminine facial features. I have a family nose that is generous in proportion
I find attractiveness in all sorts of features, personally. Usually if a fella looks like he’d be a filthy git in bed, I find that hotter than him having a chiselled jawline.

My initial reaction to this thread, is one of, why do we need to reinforce negative views and belief systems of self, especially if we already tell ourselves we're ugly....

I don’t think I could fully explain the psychology of it, but I think what an individual sees in the mirror is different to the whole of what another person sees.
Even with the camera phone/selfies etc, that detachment between the two exists and throwing in a hackneyed phrase ‘perceptible is reality’.
Were constrained by society and media and representations of what is and isn’t attractive and even though that might go against what you see in a person’s appearance, the perception or expectation or assumption is made with people that don’t fit into the existing bias.
It changes around culture and fashion but some parts of it are almost primal in terms of height/presence, big boobs, long legs, blonde hair.
If you feel you don’t fit all the different biases and criteria that are out there online or in groups of people and see that others do, it’s easy to not like what you see.
There’s only so much we can change, hair colour, maybe loose weight, but you can be taller, smaller or change how some things look.
For me, I see someone older and greyer than how I feel and I don’t particularly like the mirror or how I appear in pictures. I wouldn’t say I’m particular down on myself over it. I am what I am, but I certainly know from sending face pics, that I’m not necessarily what women are looking for. |
