Aldi, famous for supplying the poor with affordable food are changing the way it will sell bananas. No longer packed in see through plastic, they will be saving plastic.

Will this result in more insects like spiders on the loose

Tom will avoid Aldi just in case

IAOTN ..

Cornucopia has no idea what people who shop anywhere else are like!

I suspect that other supermarkets also have their fair share of slobby husbands who slouch over the trolley handles and keep shouting across to their wives " Djoo wonnt one them thingummies (insert relevant item name)?"

I have banned myself from Aldi. I have an electronic keyboard, welder, a pillar drill, a router and table and an uncountable number of other tools in the garage, mostly still in the box!

A friend at Eureka alerted me to 'Frikadellen' a european pork burger very popular in Germany and the low countries and sold by both Lidl and Aldi.

They come in packs of 5, chilled for fridge storage with a long use

by date. they microwave in under two minutes and are delicious with apple sauce, also available from those outlets.

For any singles or families on a restricted budget, they are well wort looking out for but get snapped up by the cognoscenti as soon as they hit the shelves (Right at the end of the cooked meats before the cheese shelves start).

Each one provides the bulk of a filling meal portion.

You can also slice them horizontally to double your pleasure

I worked in fyffes banana warehouse in Basingstoke for some extra holiday money many moons ago. They had a pink toed tarantula climb out of one of the boxes - that generated some attention

I also have to question why broccoli is plastic covered - it goes off faster in it

We should not be using oil-derived plastic to the extent that we are. And we definitely should not be packing the amount of fruit and veg that we are. Many of us would be happy with stuff loose and it could reduce food waste.

I avoid Aldi since they decided to treat all their customers as thieves. They can go fuck themselves.

What happened,?"

They insisted on searching the bag I had brought into the store before they would allow me to buy my food. I refused. They claimed that they would have to check the security footage to trail my movements around the store in case I had st*len anything. I told them to fuck off and I haven’t been back.

Ah well that's because soooo many people go in there with their own bags and don't always put the whole lot on the conveyor

In the 7 years I’ve run a shop, I’ve never found an insect in an unopened box of bananas when I’ve opened it, I’ve always expected to find 1

I like Aldi and Lidl's loose bananas. You can buy a couple rather than a whole bag.
