There’s 3 camps here

1. Early rise to reserve a sun lounger

2. Those who take a chance and hope there’s something left when they’re ready to start the day.

3. My favourite people, the ones who will happily throw towels in the pool and take the sun bed

Leeds + Newcastle

I'm a #1 but in my defence, I am an early riser anyway and once that towel is down, I'm enjoying the early morning silence reading my book so at least I'm sitting on my towel

I’m not arsed where I sit, I’m on holiday ffs I’m not getting up at the crack of dawn to make sure I can sit in a certain spot all day. But to be honest laying around the pool all day ain’t my thing, I’d rather be off exploring.

We are number 4. We are taking the towels off but will fold them nicely for them to collect from us when they arrive.

I'm #4 the ones lazily sitting down to breakfast whilst you watch the odd people standing behind the rope for the pool area, and the mass run when the staff releases the role, I like to place bets with my family on whose going to get a towel down first and whose going to fall over. And then even funnier is the fact that once the stampede is over and the towels are layed out they calmly all walk away from the pool and join their families for breakfast whilst the rest of us are going 'what knobs' . Even better is when you stay at a hotel who have employees that will then go around and remove all the towels and leave them in a pile

I thankfully stay only in places where pool/beach overcrowding is not a problem.

I only lie there for an hour a day tops. Then it’s off exploring.

Sunbeds usually are not allowed to be reserved I thought now at most nice resorts.

Though saying that i mostly holiday in places where I don’t need to fight for a spot by a pool
