Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Never had any unusual pets but my brother has had loads over the years including various pythons, a whip snake (I think that's what it was called), chipmunks, iguana and, believe it or not, an alligator.

We have a bearded dragon and am struggling at the moment with his diet....He refuses to eat anything but crickets and i know he should have a mixed diet...ive tried everything but because he only eats the crickets he is becoming quite fat...Any suggestions on how to get him eating other things?

Do you gut load the crickets and dust them?

My beardies ate crickets daily and never got fat and they were lazy sods! Lol. I always thought crickets were one of the healthier insects for beardies.

Have you tried strawberries and blueberries?

Also pinkie mice? Ours loved those! Roaches?? (Less smelly and annoying than crickets) x.

My first pet was a fancy rat, best pet I ever had

Trained him to go back to his cage to use the toilet, was immaculate clean and would spend the rest of the time sitting on my shoulder or lap watching telly and keeping me company.

Liked him so much we got a female which I kept in another room, was very mischievious and escaped one night, went through the house and got into his cage......when I found them in the morning the inevitable happened and instead of coming out his cage like he did every day to say hello, he just raised his head looked at me and went back to sleep obviously having his wicked way the night before lol!!!

2 months later, 15 rats to find a new home for lol!!!!

I have an African Grey parrot called Gizmo.

Not many people keep birds now. Which is a shame in some ways. But at least those that do tend to think it through before they buy one.

Two uromastyx, a blue tongue skink, newts, some geckos, salamanders, axolotls, fish and two cats

I had someone tell me rather rudely from here that they didnt like reptiles, i told him that i wasnt planning on getting them out. Some people are actually worried i will involve them in some strange sex act i think :/

Can't think of anything worse than keeping a creature in a cage.

They belong in the wild in their natural habitat.

They are and theg do live a long time, around 50 years. Worth it though if you can commit. I'm really glad they aren't sold in many pet shops now. I used to hate selling them when I worked for Pets at Home. People just used to buy them on a whim.
