Are you a believer or is it a load of old tosh?
Just something we were talking about the other day.
Vince isn't a believer, me, logic always told me they weren't real, but I have experienced enough to make me believe that something IS there.
What's your take and what (if any experiences) made you feel that way? x |

I have been on 3 "ghosthunts" with an open mind. Until something is proved I had my doubts. However on the 3rd Ghosthunt I still believe I was contacted by one of my grandparents who had died several years before. Whilst experts were on hand they just observed and they could only conclude I had been contacted somehow. |

I'm a non believer as you can reason/explain most things, but my mother was a huge believer and would argue that ghosts are real.
The closest I've came to something unusual was when I had a motorbike crash, it sounds unbelievable but I was looking down on myself and the people around me the next thing I was back on the floor with a surge of .... I want to say power or energy but something that jolted my whole body and I've never been able to explain that |

We have just been on a ghost hunt.......I'm still open minded about it, didn't see anything that convinced me they are real, but I can't discount it either!!
Think I need to go on another to make my mind up. The two mediums were coming up with some interesting facts about group members, which makes me think I'd quite like a personal reading

It depends how you define ghost. There are doubtless some as yet unexplained events that take place but whether they come from outside or inside ourselves I can't really say. I keep an open mind or try to.

"Had to have my house blessed due to a bad spirit
Oh dear, bad in what way? x"
Well my husband was killed ten years ago. And last few years I got really into this web site people claiming they where having messages from him etc. Knowing too much what they should of know etc.
Anyway. I started having funny feelings in the house. And one night it was really bad in the house felt like something was behind me and I shut my bedroom door and hear bangs and growls from landing. So I said a prayer and more bangs and growls and then a flash and silence. So my parents called the church and someone came out and felt everything I mentioned in all the spots I mentioned without me saying anything so he blessed the place. |

I'm glad you said that .
I have experienced all sorts of weired things, most of which could possibly be explained away except one.
Back in the early nineties when I was milking we lost a whole generation of cows with BSE.
They all suffered different symptoms but all had a trigger and all were neurological based .
One nearly killed me .
I was reaching under a cow who was quite old and had a very low udder which made it difficult to put the milking cluster on.
The cow behind must of got upset and it triggered her BSE .
She stamped on my head smashing my face onto the concrete and as I twisted my head to get away she stamped on the side of my head and then went berserk.
I have a vivid recollection of hearing a terrible noise and for the briefest of moments I was stood behind myself watching my head getting stamped on.
It was seriously weird and is why I am very open minded about such things and really don't care what people say as it really happened to me.
She had to be put down straight away and I was not very pretty for quite a while . |

I have 3 things that genuinely happened and will brief as possible. Yrs ago whilst working in basement at work me and mate wanted brew. Drinks machine on 3 floor we went in lift which is goids lift with 2 doors that were manully opened and closed as soon as we stepped on lift both doors shut lift went to 5th floor we were puzzled to say least. When we got yo top floor we slowly opened doors not sure what to expect no one was there as it was unused area of factory as soon as we got in doors shut again it went to basement to say we were scared is understatement. My mate was off work 3 month with nervous breakdown. We found out later a bloke died on top floor and security guards dog would not go on that floor. |

Used to have nightly visits from a soldier at my Dad's old house (no puns please, lol). Used to think I was just dreaming/seeing things but it only ever happened in THAT house.
Would also be sitting watching TV and out of the corner of your eye see a fully formed shadow walk through the hallway into the kitchen, sometimes opening and closing the door behind it. The first time I was so sure it was my Dad coming down for a drink I went into the kitchen to check only to find nobody there.
Dog used to sit in the hallway wagging hair tail and staring into space and my sister-in-law's baby used to giggle and gargle at something out there.
People said they always felt like they were being watched in that house but if he was real, he never did anything to scare us or cause bad feeling.

As you ask.
I was getting the cows in for milking early one morning and the field ended in a dog leg .
The cows, as they walked, looked across at something and I looked to see what had caught their attention.
Two paddocks across there was a cow drinking out of a trough.
Nothing unusual there until it dawned on me that there should be no other cows in those paddocks , I then looked across again and she had gone .
A flat large paddock adjoining three others and there was nowhere she could of home from my sight and there were no cows out there.
You asked .
I also came face to face with my boss a week after he had died which surprised me a bit . |

One evening, a few days after my dad died, I was sitting up in bed, reading. For some reason I looked up from my book and saw an elderly woman standing in the doorway of my bedroom (well it was the top half of an elderly woman only visible from the waist up). I just looked at her and she at me...no words spoken by either...for a couple of minutes, then suddenly she just wasn't there any longer. It wasn't someone I recognised and I've no idea why I could only see half of her, but I didn't find her presence frightening in any way - just strange. I've no explanation for what happened and I've never seen anything since...but it happened. |

I don't believe in ghosts, I believe we are born to reproduce and die, there's no after life and we don't have a soul
I know some people claim they have seen ghosts and I believe some of them truly believe they have but I think there's a explanation for everything if you look, its just some people don't want to look for logic as they want to think they have seen a ghosts |

if ghosts exist...as in everyone who,s died has there spirit floating around in the spirit world then it must be getting a bit crowded by now..and why would it be just humans add animals to it as well and things must be at bursting point...ghosts are like honest politicians....there's no such thing.. |

I was clearing an old hospital out the lights switched on and off and no one was near the switch. Then I saw a man walk down the corridor and went thro a door. Thought nothing of it till I got to the door and it was padlocked shut. Went to security to report what I saw and got told oh you have seen the ghost then. So yes I believe in ghosts. The hospital by the way was St Lawrence's in Bodmin Cornwall |

I believe ghosts exist, although I don't think I've seen 1. Before my mum died she said she would visit all of us when she passed. I said don't visit me as it would scare me. The rest of my family have either seen her or felt she was about I haven't. I used to chat to a medium online and he said have u ever dreamed about your mum then woke up? I said yes. Well apparently that's my mum coming to vist me without scaring me. |

This sounds pedantic but I don't NOT believe.
the universe is capable of some weird shit....and that's the stuff we know about.
I've occaisionally founde myself pondering on ghosts and with no real scientific knowledge reckon....
If everything's down to chance at a quantum level then who's to say you cant get time slips etc.
The brain might be capable of recreating in its owners mind the memory of an ancestor...a sort of DNA ghost which I think would be pretty mindblowing in itself.
Dead people's souls manifesting in order to communicate/find peace/justice/freak out some humans...would love to believe but not convinced
That is all |

I live in a haughnted house and it's well documented in local history books. Some things do happen and when they do I chat to her as I would a normal person. Only once have we been hurt by something happening and it was a standard lamp being knocked over! Yes it could have fell however 4 times in a few seconds unlikely. Also in nearly all the pictures taken in our house there are dozens of orbs. So I believe very much so. |

I have far to many experiences to not be a non believer!
Since I was tiny I've seen a young girl who stands in my bedroom door way, every couple of months or so she would appear and just stand there until I move closer and she'd vanish.
I've been to several mediums 3 of which have refused to read me as I have to many spirits with me, if they were a con, which I believe a lot are they would have just taken my money and made something up, but they never.
And now the real reason why I am a believer!
The first salon I worked in one of the girls I felt I had met before but living local I just presumed I had seen her about. After a few months she invited me to dinner at hers, we started talking about ghost and spirits and I told her that I felt like I had met her previously, but that I thought she had a little mixed raced boy who was about 5/6, she started crying and told me she had an abortion 6 years ago and her partner was black. No one has ever been able to explain how I knew that!

Loving these stories so far.
As I said, I've never been hurt by a spirit but I think the only frightening one I've experienced was at a friend's house when I was around 7 - 8 years old.
They had always said they had a poltergeist but you couldn't have prepared me for it! Light switches and electricals turning on and off, doors opening and closing. Got woken up during the night by my bag being dragged across the floor and looked up to see my shoes halfway up the wall!
Didn't exactly hurt me but I never stayed there again! x |

I just wonder why when blessed with eternity and the ability (it seems) to communicate with their loved ones and other folk, ghosts seem to prefer obscure shapeless forms (or to be entirely invisible). They inhabit dark, dank lonely places at inhospitable times, and then spend that time moving objects about in a random fashion, opening and closing doors and making, vague arbitrary indistinct noises that are of absolutely no use to anybody. Worse still is when they apparently just like to feck around with the room temperature which means you don't know whether to call Ghostbusters or British Gas to get the boiler serviced.
Call me daft, but if blessed with eternal life and ethereal understanding, they could at least do a bit of washing up, a spot of ironing for you or perhaps just walk the bloody dog.
And why be so bloody maudlin and miserable all the time? They should lighten up! What have they got to be afraid of and miserable about? Dying?! Cheer up and tell a joke or two, or appear on a Richard Dawkins or James Randi show and say "Hey You! Not so bloody smart now are you!"
Would you want to be a ghost if that was the rest of your life? I wouldn't. Now if I could go into the House of Commons and throw things at MP's, mangle the fingers of the editor of the Daily Mail and waterbomb One Direction, then I'd be up for that.
Until that's an alternative though, count me as a skeptic.

Well there's what looks like a old Victorian street under the hospital with cobble road that just stops at a wall then there's the ghost that runs after you opening and closing doors, I took a fallow guard with me and got chased in to the old chapel and something was banging on the door.. It was something like out of the 1965 file The Haunting |

I can' t say that I did believe in ghosts. Though I had an incident some years ago upon visiting my great aunts grave for the first time. She had died a few weeks earlier and I had missed the funeral. I laid some flowers and paid my respects to her.
That night I stayed in the family home and dreamt I saw her from a distance so went up to her. For the rest of the night an apparition sat at the foot of my bed eyes open or closed I could see it. I will be honest it was not pleasant I was paralysed with fear and could not utter so much as a sound or move a muscle.
Since then I believe there are ghosts. Interestingly some faiths believe after death that the soul wonders the earth for 40 days and nights before ascending to heaven. |

Was visiting family in a little cambridgeshire village, driving home late at night on a country rd with a canal/ river at side I was sat in back seat behind driver when I saw someone on side of road, a young boy, when I looked again they had disappeared.
It was pitch black and the young boy was just stood there....
I really cant explain it and my mum driving didnt see him. |
