The most accurate meme I've ever seen is:

"If cats could text you back, they wouldn't"

Sort of. A year ago, a mom and 4 kittens turned up in my old stables. Mom eventually moved on with one kitten leaving 3. Mom was a hissing ball of fur and claws if you got too close (she has drawn blood), but her kittens became habituated to humans. 2 will allow you to stroke them, and one, although shy, will bump against you. One has even learned to meow and purr, which apparently is quite rare for feral cats. They still live in the stables, although they do come to the house for food, they don't stop in overnight.

Daughter moved back home with 5 cats, moved out.... Cats had kittens, up to 17 cats at one pint. It was insane!... Now have 2 cats, didn't want any cats!... One cat currently laid on me

"...Daughter moved back home with 5 cats, moved out.... Cats had kittens, up to 17 cats at one point"

I got all these spayed/neutered. They're not 'my' cats (they are feral, not chipped to me), but they chose to live with me so I'll take some responsibility beyond allowing them to stay. I don't mind feeding them, but I don't want to get into a compound interest of cats

Uhuh! The law now states - they are your cats

Nope, their right ear is clipped to indicate they are a feral cat not owned by anyone. The neutering was arranged by cats protection, although I gave a donation equal to the cost. They do not live in the house, in fact the mom was originally probably from a colony on the local golf course. There are also at least two other colonies of feral cats that I know of in the area. The idea that all cats should be chipped is a bit silly in that there are probably just as many feral cats as house cats in the country.

...but nobody had better try 'stealing' them

Actually that was the agreement with cats protection. I have to put them back where I found them...I.e. my stables

As mothership to 7 cats, this actually made me splutter my tea out

Yeah, the mom musta weighed just a couple of kg, but I'm telling you I wouldn't pick a fight with her. She drew blood twice. I mean, she would sit there watching me stroke her kittens, but if I went towards her she'd start hissing and swiping, you cannot believe how sharp those claws are! The two ginger ones though are just dopey gingers cats!
