"England came home on Sunday at soccer aid, as much as I'd love England to win at the euros, it's pretty slim but as usual, I'll be behind them cheering them on! "
Why pretty slim ? Bookies have them as favourites |

I think given the talent base we have, in the England team, they have performed reasonably well.
Football is a sport that entails luck too especially in knockout competitions.
England don't have many top tier players. Plenty of good ones. Bellingham is a great player, he could make the difference in the future.
They are lacking at the back though, particularly between the sticks and other than Trent AA I don't see many creative passers of the ball. Some good energy and dribbling but are they good enough to pose a consistent threat?
A decent team with a decent chance. They'll need to be very cohesive as a team. |

Pickford would have won us the Euros had the other players remembered how to take a decent penalty. One of the most consistent players for Everton and England in recent years. We’d have been relegated years ago if not for him. Terrible take this. |

For me over the years it’s been the poor appointments of inferior coaches. Fabio Campello, Sven GE, now Southgate. The last really good one was cut short ie Venables and you get Harry Redknapp completely overlooked. It’s the suits at the FA that needs a clear out. |

Southgate plays too defensively always has done, pragmatic as he was at Middlesbrough they didn’t do anything other than stay in the league, the Euros can often throw up a curveball winner, Greece for instance in 2004 (host nation) but the better money is on Germany or Portugal, we do have a very forward biased squad so perhaps he’s going for it, and anyone who says we haven’t got decent players compared to the rest of Europe ….Kane highest scorer in Germany, Bellingham and foden over twenty goals and assists in top leagues, then you have saka, Gordon, palmer, rice and stones, it’s a good squad and defensively we will just have to step up, zee Germans will win it, on penalties again |

"Football hasn't been home since 1066 (or was it 1966?). Why is football so reluctant to return? Maybe this is the time?"
The women won the euros 2 years ago!!!
For the first time in years you could argue that this England team has the best player playing in Germany (Kane) Spain (Jude Bellingham) and the best 2 players in England (Foden and Rice)
For me… it’s about Southgate not overthinking it! In most games you won’t need a dedicated pivot… so if he is going to play 4-2-3-1 … Pickford, Trent, walker, stones, trippier, rice, Bellingham as an 8, Saka, palmer, Foden and Kane
There you go… if you are playing France or Spain and you feel you need extra back cover, that is where you play kobbie mainoo |

We gonna have the argument over are you going to play Bellingham as an 8 or a 10….. for me he is a box to box midfielder! That’s what he did for Dortmund you can afford to play Jude as a 10 if you have valverde or modric or Toni kroos or tchouameni playing behind you! Lol |

That's exactly my main issue with Southgate he's too defensive and that brings pressure on our weakest aspect. Rice could be key, if he's solid defensively and that releases Bellingham, foden and Saka. I'd go 4-2-3-1 and drop Trent as a dlp alongside Rice. We can get some fluidity and movement then. That will get the best out of foden and Bellingham. Southgate doesn't tend to think like that though. |

Of course. I love that man JP. The other keepers have had their chances (few I know) but they shit themselves. Ramsdale against Hungary. Pope against Germany spring to mind.
What we really need is Branthwaite and Tarkowski (I might be going a little overboard now). But they’re better than bloody Dunk! |

The quality we have in midfield is such that if stones and rice sit Bellingham foden et all will be able to pop up wherever on the pitch as they do for their respective clubs, stones and rice are very used to playing like this too, Mainoo Gordon and Palmer must get game time too and as an arsenal fan I don’t want saka playing every minute, boy gets kicked |

Come on now guys I’m rooting for you here!
I’ve gotta say though your national anthem when belted out is so clear of ours. I was at Wembley for the England Scotland game in 2021 and when those bagpipes started I got goosebumps. I wasn’t one of the idiots booing.
Shit game though and I got covid. |
