Cunt

It's probably actually fuck. It is a very utilitarian (that's not the word, but it's nearly the word) expletive.

But cunt is my favourite

In English, I rarely utter swear words but when I do it’s usually shit.

In my first language, I have uttered swear words twice in my life. It was the equivalent of fuck you and go fuck your self.

To me, swear words in English feel empty and lacking soul. In my first language they feel like daggers through the heart when used.

Most recently used the other day when I exclaimed to my dog “what the fuck is that?!” when I saw a deer (doe) on our woodland walk.

I have different swear words depending on the company I am in.

.

For polite, genteel and formal company, it'll be "Oh dear", or "Oh Buttons", or "Blast".

.

For informal known company it varies depending on the company itself.

.

I was taught to "modulate" my language depending on the social group I was with at the time, and adopt their parlance and manner of speaking, including colloquialisms and swear words, as they would feel comfortable with.

.

Which essentially means having to remember which Venn group knows me speaking in which particular way and what dynamic I used with that group.

.

It can get a bit exhausting !

(And before anyone says "Just be yourself". I don't even have a "myself." I am just one persona after another, depending on context and social group.

My old elocution teacher once said, "We all wear masks". I embraced that fully.)
